| eye allergies??!?! heeeeelllp me someone! OOOokkay so since my friends/family don't know what to do, a 24 hour consulting nurse doesn't know, and even my DOCTOR doesn't know.. I think I will have to try YT now.. LOL!! Okay... has anyone had this before or think they know what I should do? For the past month.. yes a MONTH... I've had really swollen and puffy eyes.. its really itchy and really really dry. It looks really terrible and I hate it! They are really red and swollen (my upper eyelids, not the eye itself) and by nighttime my eyelids turn kinda hard and scaly-looking?? It looks weird but not many people have noticed because I cover the red spots with makeup and can't look at anyone in the eye now At first... after a week or two, I looked at my eye really close in the mirror and saw that where I usually draw in eyeliner, there was a line of puffiness there.. so I threw away all my eye makeup and bought new ones.. after that didn't work, I stopped using make up for a week and still...the same.. I washed my bed sheets, changed from feather stuffed pillows to a different kind, cleaned the house and sprayed febreze everywhere... still... the same..................................... I don't know what to do!! I never have skin problems.. SO frustrating~! I never even get acne!! So I don't know WHY my skin is being so sensitive.. My doctor didn't prescribe anything for me!! She just said I am allergic to something (obviously!) All I use is vaseline on my eyes before I go to sleep so it won't get so dry and I've tried other "intensive dry skin" lotions and creams.. nothing has worked and I am so sick of this!!! ANY ADIVCE!?!?!?! |

I had to quit using foam pillows and also the Memory foam mattress pad because I am allergic to the foam. Do you wear eye glasses by any chance and rinse them quite frequently sometimes the cleaners on those wipes can casue irritation, I have to do this. I am so very sorry, I know how miserable you must be, it is awfull and then when one don't get help from a Dr. it makes it so much harder to get through. Once again where are you using the vaseline. I have had to use the night time eye ointment but it is for dry eye. Please keep us updated on how you are doing and if you go to eye specialist what he says. Thanks, Patti | |

| Thanks for your advice~ I use vaseline on my eyelids before I go to sleep and no I dont wear glasses or contacts or anything like that... Yeah I think I should see an eye doctor, but I just am afraid he will say the same thing.. I waited for so long to see my regular doctor and all she said was "yup you are definitely allergic to something!"... I was pretty upset and said "okay thanks"... after hearing her talk for 5 mins about how I am allergic to something. But thanks I will keep you posted~ |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | See an eye specialist and also - try calling a dermatoligist - that sounds awful and I can't believe your doctor didn't try some allergy meds for you. |

| I think I can help here!! I had all those same problems and finally after missing a day here, day there from work because one eye or the other would be so swollen I didn't want to be seen, I finally went to an opthamologist. She gave me a prescription for Patanol eye drops. They are for eye allergies. One drop in each eye twice a day. After a while, I didn't need them every day or maybe just once a day. I think they may be pretty expensive if you don't have a good prescription plan but check it out! It's been a lifesaver for me!!

| I use Patenol, also!!!!!!!!!!! It is a miracle worker! I no longer have eye allergies, and mine were like your...I still use vasaline on my eye lids at night, though. I like the way it makes them feel in the morning!!!! You can only get Patenol with a prescription. I would recommend going to see an ophthamologist and NOT an optometrist. Ophthamologists are a lot more knowledgable as they are actually medical doctors (MD), whereas optometrists are not! |

| Opthalmologist Yes, I agree. You need to see an eye doctor right away. Don't mess with your eyes. |

| I had the same problems awhile back. I would go into the Dr's office constantly thinking I had pink eye. I was prescribed drops too. At the time I did not have insurance and it was costing me $100 a month. I found an over the counter alternative though. They are called GENTEEL drops. They have them in a couple of different strengths. These work for me just as well. Also, the best advice I ever got was to change your pillows every six months. They tend to build up dust mites and that may be what is bothering you. Hope I helped a little.

| Back from doctor! Hey everyone~ I asked the eye doctor if I should be using the things that you guys said you used like the Patanol (sp?) and she said that they were for a different kind of puffiness and not for me. She said I had some sort of bacterial infection (forgot the name) above my eyelids caused by some sort of allergic reaction. So she prescribed me with "Hydrocortisone Cream 1%" and said to use it for a week then go back to her. She also said I should be seeing fast results. So hopefully (crosses fingers) this one will work!! |

I also get the weird puffiness from eyeliner and it almost seems like I have exzema on my eyelid now or something like that and I bought all new makeup and it didnt help. I barely put on make up much anymore. I pretty much gave up on contacts too. But Im not really having problems anywhere else, just the eyelids.
