| 2 year online Associates Degree??? My aunt heard that you can get an 2 yr online associates degree in Early Childhood Development, has anyone heard of that? I have hit a brick wall with my research so I figured I would ask around. If you know of any online colleges offering it please let me know. Thanks! I am going back to school to be a preschool teacher and if I could do it in 2 years verses 4 then it would be a life saver! Since I am a single mom and will have to work full time while attending school I figured that online was the way to go!

| You can go online all the way up to a Masters. Most AA's are 2 years. I recommend everyone to set a goal up to a BA because that is what many jobs prefer. I just got my AA and I'm changing schools from a Community College to a University. Just make sure you check the accreditation. Good luck! |

| My husband is doing online school right now. He Does University of Pheonix, and he has 3 more classes to take and he gets an Associates. The classes are 6 weeks long, he gets no breaks between classes most of the time, once in a while it might be a few days between classes though. He takes one class at a time, and September will make 2 years. He is on the computer a lot, but he loves not having to go to a school to take classes. The only thing though is that each class is 1200 dollars plus some book fees!! He says he is going to stay until he gets a Masters I hope so!!

I hate to tell you this. I have heard some bad things about UOP because I considered the BSIT program before I found SIU's. Check out ripoffreports.com, epinions.com and uopsucks.com. I hope your husband has a better experience than a lot of other's have and I wish him luck. Oh yeah, and UOP will call, email, and snail mail you like CRAZY, something I never experienced from a university before, which made me think that they are all about $$. Be careful choosing your school, it's very important. There are even really bad degree programs that give you a degree just for life experience like Rochville. That is simply like just buying your degree. Not all the degrees are the same! Many universities offer online programs. Good luck!

| As long as you are careful in your research there are some very good on line schools. But of course there are some rip offs out there too. Make sure the school is fully accredited. In my industry you are required to have a 4 year degree. We do a very extensive back ground check and you would be surprised how many times it comes up that someone thinks they have a valid degree and they don't. They did the work, paid the money, but since the school is not accredited, the degree is not worth the paper its printed on. Ususally the ones who sound too good to be true are. You can not earn a 4 year degree in 6 months, etc. BTW, an Associates Degree is a 2 year degree. Good luck!

I think any education is far better than no education. Education is one thing that no one can take away from you it is a very worthwhile investment.

| As much as some of you want to further educate yourself in this online "universities", please understand that not every employer will recognize these types of schools. Not everyone will recognize University of Phoenix. They may know you finished your education there...but they may not recognize/acknowledge it. This is based on what I've seen... |

| Claire ~ My suggestion to you would be to do some extensive research when looking at online schools. UoP is an accredited college program and about 8 years ago were seen recognized as an accredited college. I know first hand that this college is by far one of the best out there from personal experience and have been hired for several jobs with this college on my resume. People and employers today are more accepting to online universities than they once were. JMHO

| trust me go here: www.ripoffreport.com Sorry this is a little long but I want to tell you my experiences... Not all people will agree as some people have positive results or the schools would not still be open...but this is what happened to me...I am not trying to scare you but I hope this helps a little: I went to KAPLAN for a while which was my first online school. I got all A's on my first semester (I even made the Deans List) which there which was too easy because most of my work was based on what I learned papers (My written opinions...there was no challenge!). The problems for me started the second semester...They kept blocking me out of my classes because they mixed me up with another student with the same name according to them so because of not being able to login to class much I failed. I was then told I could repeat the same classes no extra charge (I should have gotten that in writing)!!! The same thing happened 2 more semesters but during the 3rd time they got really mean about it blaiming me!!! It was a bad system to repeatedly mix me up with someone else! Later they kicked me out of the school and began billing me (oh and financial aid was supposed to cover everything)! The reasons for the bills was supposedly because I only took one class one term...I never took less than 2! I am still fighting with them over that one! My second school was FMU (Florida Metropolitan University: That school is almost impossible to pass unless you get an easy class! No one ever answered my calls (well never returned them...until I left). There is a thing called group teamwork projects. If people don't participate and you have an A in the work each week you lose 25% of your over all grade. By the end of those first classes I went from an A+ to and F because No one participated in my projects but me and the only way I would have passed the class was to do extra credit work which was only going to bring my grade up to a D-. I left that school and went to AIU (American International University) which by the way is owned by a company of people who were charged with money scams on another Atlanta Georgia school!!! They just use different people to front the company...go to the website I later mention and you can read a little about that! AIU is sooo easy to get accepted I think a monkey could get in!!! Literally! I made a mess of the enterance quiz and they praised me for it...as if I was they student they wanted and I was sooo smart and tallented...it was sooo stupid (what I wrote was confusing and made my dad laugh...In part because you write things in different areas and it autofills it in the paper. I was later told my advisor re-wrote my paper before turning it in...so the copy I had was not the copy the review board had...weird stuff!!!) Now this school is just messed up! They just plain lied to me. I told them if financial aid didn't cover them completely I didn't want to start the classes there! The day classes started they told me I was covered completely and to login. One week went by then they called me and said I would have to pay out of pocket a minimum of 50.00 a month until I graduated there! I was horrified!!! I told them what they told me before I started and how I didn't want to start if I wasn't covered completely. I was told I had to pay or log out and not login again pr I would be immideately billed. I was then told they were going to try to work it out and to not dorp the classes until they knew more but to also not log back in intil they did. Big mistake. I did that and a week later I was told my only option was cash payments. I withdrew from the school wiuth them telling me I was cleared and owed no money...not true! I am now still being billed as if I still go there! They tricked me...if you go a week and that happens you are filling a contract to pay the full amount...you just aren't told unless you find it on the site. Go to www.ripoffreport.com look up schools on there you are considering and read what people say...take note of complaints and remember the ones praising the school are not always true! And even then many are ok with it but I am not ok with paying for 3 schools and getting no transfer classes...credits or recognition for ever being there!!! All of these schools were online. I gave up on the online programs and I am about to start a local college. Each person has different experiences. There are probably very good online schools but I can't afford to keep trying and not getting through classes...It is far too expensive! Oh an not all degrees transfer or are even recognised in many places or other schools. None of the above schools would have transfered to any on campus schools I considered!!! Anyway you will be good if you research the different schools and read the reports on them...that site covers sooo many schools...online and camous in different directories there! Good Luck...You will find the one fit for you...I know it because I did! :-)

SIU only offers online classes for Fall/Spring so I am going to take more classes at Community Colleges during the "off season." IMO this is the cheaper way to do it than to go to a University the entire 4 years. The classes are full time, online, and I had a kid while I was in the navy working crazy shiftwork hours. The only thing you have to be careful of is that Community Colleges only give you lower level credit, so try not to go over 60 if you are going for your BA because the other 60 will have to be Upper Level. Just make sure you have a gameplan. Talk to other people who have been to those schools. Look up the school online at ripoffreport.com and other sites. Good luck!
