| I need help with monitor display Yesterday morn when I turned on my computer it did some sort of update and my monitor display changed to really small...like it only fills up about half the monitor. I went to change text size and it was already on larger. Then I went to display in control panel and according to things in there, it looks like what it's supposed to be. I am confused...why did this happen in the first place. I ran the virus scanner and no viruses. I will run adaware and see if there's anything in there. Anyway, yesterday I did a system restore to get it back to the way it was. When I shut down the puter last night it said it was updating again. Turn on the computer this morn and it's back to this teenie tiny screen that only fills about half my monitor. Time to get out the reading glasses! Does anyone have any advice or expertise?

| Go to your desktop. Opposite mouse button, click on properties. Go to the settings tab on top. On the bottom right you will see screen area. Mine is set to 800 X 600 pixels. Hope this helps.

| Up in the top right hand corner of your screen are 3 boxes. One with a _ one with a box and one with a X. Click on the box one and it should fill your screen.

| Thanks for your help! I already knew about the - box X and that wasn't it. I did what Sneri 13 said to try and it was already at 800X600 pixels, so I made those numbers bigger and it worked! Thanks so much! I just wonder why this happened in the first place! Sometimes these computers seem to have a mind of their own!

| a technical answer If you want a technical answer to the question of why, here is one: When Windows ran its update, it updated the display drivers and set them to the default resolution. Your monitor is larger than default, so you had to set the resolution to the one that supports your screen size. In lamens terms, Microsoft Windows isn't all that smart. |
