| The cruddy flu How many of you or your families have experienced the influenza virus? My 15 year old daughter has been ill all week with it. I work at a doctors office and we are seeing tons of flu and strep!! There has to be an end soon!! So far I have been lucky to have built up an imune system to it!! I wish the best to all of you and hope you don't get this nasty stuff!!!

| Knock On Wood... We've been pretty lucky. Ever since I started homeschooling my daughter we have had a lot less sick days. Wishing your daughter to get well soon.

| Oh poor girl! I hope that its over soon. My kids all have asthma and allergies, and two of them were premature. So we all get flu shots to prevent it from happening. We have been doing so for the past few years, and if we do get sick its only for a few days, and not the full blown virus. The flu is so crappy! Its terrible. We have such a shortage of vaccines here every year. This year for some reason I didn't get it. Big mistake! I got it more than once already. Lets just say I won't make that mistake again! I will say a little prayer that your daughter gets well soon.

| Some friends of mine were supposed to have an 80's party a few weeks ago. Then one of the girls got the flu for a week, and they had to cancel. I had my hair all grown out for a flock of seagulls haircut, and I found purple leather pants reminiscent of eddie murphy raw. darn flu speaking of leather pants, the vaccine every year is an educated guess from a panel as to which strains of flu they think will make a large appearance in the population in the coming year. I believe they include 3 strains of flu in every annual vaccine. flu has such a high rate of genetic drift because it is an RNA virus (RNA viruses generally have higher rates of mutation because their polymerases (what they use to copy their genomes) do not have error checking in them). this means that it is different to your immune system, so you need a new vaccine every year that hopefully matches that year's predominant strains.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | mt 86 year old parents got it a couple of weeks ago and i am taking care of them so now i have it. It has almost killed my mom she only weighs 84lbs and is now down to 78. I have still been going over to help them because they can't take care of themselves and I live 5 minutes away. We don't want my sister or brothres to catch it either. I have not been this sick in 15 years! The only good think=g is Cali is still sleeping alot from her surgery so we have been cuddling. Does anyone know how long it lasts!
