Wow I am going to be in NC in a couple weeks, maybe we could get your TB! My boyfriend is the avid geocacher but I can't wait until we have our little girl to go with us. When we get our little girl we are actually going to turn her into a travel bug. What is your team name? | |

Before you take your little girl out .... be sure to get a front carrier for her!! You wouldn't believe how heavy a nosey, 3-4 lb. Yorkie can get until you've taken one geocaching!!

| Ok, so now I feel better knowing I am not the only one clueless out here. Anyone care to explain what that is?

| My cousin does it! And I've been with her a couple times. I'm not real sure I understand exactly how it works but here's my best shot (those who do this more than I can explain better). There is a website that you can go to to sign up. You basically need a GPS to track coordinates. People will hide things, sometimes it's just a note, could be a small item. You find the info on the website, then using your GPS, you track the coordinates to find what has been hidden. You then go back to the website and post that you found it. There are clues that also help guide you. It's like a treasure hunt! It was pretty fun when I did it with my cousin but I just don't have the time to get into it like her and her husband have. Of course, my explanation could be WAY off base so please, those who do this regularly, please correct or add what I've missed!! Suzi |

| Sorry!! Geocaching is like a treasure/scavenger hunt with GPS equipment. You use coordinates to locate a "cache" which contains little things that others have left & you make notations in a log book in the cache, leave your "thing" and take one from the cache and on & on!! It's soooo interesting, good exercise & just plain fun!! Our "travel bug" [which is a little tag with a number & you register it] is named "Colorado True Measure" and is attached to a little tape measure souvenier that we had for years. You can keep up with reports of your "bug" online at the website & see all the places it goes! Our team name is "Drivenrhythm" .... another hobby of Patrick's ... drums!!! I don't know if I have clearly described what geocaching is but this is all I know!! The most important thing about geocaching .... it's another great activity for Yorkie's and their people!! We are always trying to come up with new fun for Toto and us and we find this is a great one!! We all enjoy the little "day trips" .... we get out, take rides, do a little hiking, do lunch, etc. Just a nice day for everyone!! Toto loves it!

| This 'game' you could call it is everywhere, even in many other countries! In some states it is bigger than others, it origintad in Washington, so here on the West side of the country it is really big, but I know there are many in every state. Go to www.geocaching.com. Our team name is AZBliss02. It is convenient to have a GPS, but we found quite a few w/o one. It is great because you get outside, sometimes hiking, going to great parks all over the city, and you get to treasure hunt! Plus it is such good excersise and excitement for your little doggie (or big). There are some also called 'urban' caches where they are located say, under a light fixture in a parking lot at your local grocery or something. Isn't it strange to think someone hid something there and you don't even know it? Those are mosytly 'micro cahces', what some of you others were explaining, there are no trades items just a log, whenever you find a cache you sign the log book saying you found it. And you have to be sneaky when you are out looking for these, you don't want other people around to see what you are doing and find the cache also. I must say when my boyfriend first told me about this I was kinda not interested, but after going out our first time it was a lot of fun! It is such a good thing for families, especially those with kids, and also retired ones love this game! |
