| Bad News, but Y'all would be proud... Bad news guys. Guess what opened in town last weekend...duh duh duh a petstore....grrrr! OK, so of course, I went in It's called "Wags to Riches." It's in a very prominent(?) part of town. We went in to scope the place out and look at the sad puppies. (No Yorkies....yet) I was standing there w/ my husband and looking at them and just said to him, "this is a crying shame..." All of a sudden this lady beside me who I hadn't noticed was clutching her chest just said, "Oh isn't it though?" I turned to look at her and she had tears in her eyes and said, "when I think about where these poor babies probably came from..." Then this girl with a lip ring came up and asked the woman, "Did you want to look at one of our dogs?" The woman (Susan) said, "no, I did not...I'd hoped I'd never look at another dog in a cage in this town again." Then the girl looked at us and said, "was there something I could help you guys with?" I said, "no way, I'm with her. I can't support a store that can be proud of THIS. If I wanted a dog, I would get one from a breeder that actually knew something about them." She said, "I don't know where we got these from." I said, "Gee, why doesn't that surprise me...?" Then Susan said, well, the one in the mall only lasted a month or two, so I really doubt this one will last long either..." Then we left. UGH! |

| Congratulatons on the way you handled the situation. We need more folks like you who are strong and bravo: brave enough to speak out against pet stores that carry live animals. |

| GOOD FOR YOU!!! I would have done the same thing. You took a stand! I'm mso proud! I hate it when I see places like this. Now if more people would just walk out, and not buy anything from them, they would be out of town even faster!

| urghhhh I hate to see that!!! Hopefully more and more ppl will get their babies from breeder...not PETSHOPs....so they can't last..... Petshops are for anyone that has money to go in and get a pet, they don't make sure they have the patiences, the money, or the time to take care of the puppies....they just let whoever wants them buys them.... |

| Good!!!! I wish people would stop supporting the ones around here!! Ugh! Come on, wheres the Oregon YTers to go out and protest with me? Ill gladly go to jail if it means some people realize what they are supporting when buying from Petstores!

| We have a pet store here that unfortunately is doing well because people don't know any better!! They say they get there babies from local breeders but of course you are not allowed that information until after the purchase - because they have a no return policy and so once you find out that either they came from a puppy mill or that the breeder doesn't give a flip about what they are breeding - which should have been obvious because they put their babies in a store cage - you can't do anything about it. I feel sorry for the people who don't do research and just go into a pet store and see a cute puppy and buy the poor thing and unkowingly support this kind of thing - then they only find out later what a bad decision this was because of vet bills or research after the fact!! Oh plus the girl at the one here actually said that when they are desperate for a puppy or certain kind of puppy they scour the local bulliton board type places and just buy whatever they can find.!!!!!!!! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Way to go - you should have told Miss Lip Ring about puppy mills and told her to type THOSE words in a search....maybe she'd get a wake up call about the dogs she is selling and where they came from - but you did REALLY good Sometimes our words fall on deaf ears |

| Yes, ALL Unknowing people who work in those places should know where those puppies come from,,, Send them some nice articles w/ pictures and website addresses to the store in the mail! Since she didn't know where they came from.. she should know, so she can tell all her customers. Maybe it would make her QUIT working there, it would me ,, if I had no idea.

| Ya know, I'm not below printing up flyers about puppymills and how they supply pet stores and putting them on cars. Plus, the shelters in the area are always up for an 'adoption drive.' Wouldn't it be funny if they set up one in the same shopping center. I am sure one of the stores around this one would let them. I think instead of "Wags to Riches," they should call it "Hags and Bi****"...hmm, maybe that would be a good slogan to put on a flyer... |
