I can't believe it. Not to long ago I had my checking account hacked and today, someone used my PayPal account to buy magazines!!

How in the &#(@ did they get into PayPal? I thought that was SECURE. I have filed a claim on it and it was only $15.97 (bought magazines online). At least they didn't wipe me out like my checking.

Anyone else ever have a problem with PayPal????

Yikes, I am embarassed

. I was NOT hacked. It was a renewal for a magazine subscription that I signed up for THREE YEARS AGO. They need to remind people after this long of a time before renewing it.

Whew!! Glad it wasn't a hacker, I would panic if my Paypal was compromised

I would have never remembered something from 3 years ago either. It woulda been nice to have received and email reminder.

After being hacked once, I would automatically think I was hacked if money was taken I didn't remeber spending. Glad it wasn't hacked after all.

I am curious: Did they automatically renew your subscription without your permission? I would not like that.

I have been on Paypal since 1999 I think it was and have never had a problem so far. I am soooooooo glad you weren't hacked though. Scary to hear about hacking and I appreciate any stories or heads up on it. Reminds me to be extra careful.

Glad it wasn't a hack! I panicked and was about to go check mine out!
I did have my Discover card used by someone who went on a shopping spree online! I was shaking when I saw it on my invoice! Whoever used it joined the Disney Video Club and had them sent to my house! They also bought 2 bikes and a few other things. I caught it the same day and they cancelled my card right away and I wasn't responsible for the charges. It freaked me out though. They sent out a new card and I have not even activated it yet because I'm scared to..lol

I have several times, gotten an "ALERT, YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN COMPRIMISED...CLICK ON THIS LINK TO VERIFY INFORMATION...UNTIL YOU DO SO, YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT IS INACTIVATED FOR YOUR SECURITY". Well, me bieng the STUPID, SENIOR, COMPUTER ILLITERATE "dmbazz" I am, I rushed quickly, clicked on the link, "verified and re-entered" all my account information...then called my friend and told her "this is EXACTLY why I did not want to sign up for paypal.....SHE ALMOST DIED!!! YOU DIDNT CLICK ON THAT LINK AND GIVE ANY INFORMATION, DID YOU????????" Well, yes, I answered all....."OMG!!! CALL THE BANK, CANCEL THE CARD, NOTIFY PAYPAL, ......" It was a MESS!!! NOW, I know NEVER to do that!!!! But it was almost a disaster for me.......

Oh, boy, I almost did the same thing but thankfully had just read a story about this type of phishing that warned me off. For a while I got lots of emails at work about the computer I had purchased from Walmart shipping info with an attachment attached and others that referred to various purchases I had made, all with a part of various retailers' names in the sender's address. But I knew not to open them, did a screen grab of my inbox showing the attempted fraud sender/subject and called my credit card companies to see if such an item had been charged on any of them and warn them of the emails I was getting about once a month. They placed alerts on my accounts for a while but eventually I guess I stopped "buying things" online because the emails dried up. But if it hadn't been for a little article I read, I would have done the same thing, clicked away and been in trouble!!! I remember when I first joined Paypal, I was scared for a couple of years, thinking I was going to be robbed blind. But so far, so good. But we're all sitting ducks online. I just buy that Norton Internet Protection service and pray!

JUST GOT THIS EMAIL: This is completely unsolicited, unanswered email! You would think from reading this, we had some kind of deal going on.....never have communicated with this scammer, at any time, on any level!!! Lordy, I hope he DOES send me a HUGE check!!! I will retire early!! Maybe I should put him on "High End Yorkies"...!!

I got an email like that before too. It asked to enter you password and everything, however the password field did not blank it out into dots like usual so I knew it was a fake. So I entered in all my "info" password "f---you" address "go to hell" etc.
