Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Bird Mites Good morning YT family! After much time away Im back with a question. Sophie and MAx had been scratching, but I haven't been able to find a flea on them.Up today on their Front line Plus treatment, flea shampoo( which I keep only for emergencies) Down detergent, cleaning, and more cleaning. Yesterday while I removed the water in my vacuum I saw some tyyyyyni little things in the water. My son comented that he was feeling something crawling on him while he was in his room, but he couldnt see what it was.I thought it was allergies. Long story short, 3 weeks agao we found a bird nest underneath the suffit, outside my son's bedroom, I wasn't going to remove it, I did what I thought it was right, just to leave there and once the had left the nest, I would remove it and close the screen the broke. They left, and also left bird mites! Everything I've read is alarming, "they reproduced by the hundreds" and Im sure pretty soon this wil be an infestation, if it is not already. The pesticides are toxic, and since I have to spray them in the attic, Im afraid that this could harm my babies. So here come my question.Have any of you experience this? What should I use/do? It is something I have to battle " yesterday" but dont even know where to start. Suggestion pleeease.

| Revolution handles different types of mites on dogs. Might be a good idea to board the dogs and have an exterminator come out to treat the house. So sorry you're going through this....

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Boarding is out of the question, dont take me wrong, it will be the perfect thing to do, if they could provide a bed for DH as well .We dont even go out on vacation if the place is not dog friendly.

So far we've seen less and less.I removed the nest spraying constantly with Lysol ( which in every site say kills on contact too) it is amazing how they make thier nest, I thought it would be just a bunch of leafs and straws, but they were all twined , mother nature! Long story short, the only thing I had (left) at home was Sevin, good for mites but meant to be used outside, and diluted it and with a sprayer, sprayed the eves as far as my arm could go, removed the screen covering the ventilation holes and clean outside walls and sprayed them too. Cut all the branches close to the house. Yesterday DH replaced the screen...guess what...in less than 24hrs, the birds were starting to make a new nest . The inside of the house looks like a mad house, trash bags everywhere, I got the clothes from the closets, washed them, got them in trsh bags. Wearing things only once and having different color trash bags for those, washing the sheets and comforters every other day and vacuuming twice a day, uf! Bathing my poor babies evry other day as well and added a few drops of Rosemary oil to their shampoo, to act as a repellent ...Im exhausted. At this point I think IM going to buy stocks on Lysol company, I've used 4 cans since all this started, spraying on walls, base boards, on the beds. Since everything I've done it is not a professional job and not using a strong product, I know in a few days the eggs will be hatching, so I need to keep vacuuming, and spraying and keep the same "ritual"until hopefully they are completly gone. As fas as the dogs, I want to start using Revolution, it says it is good for mites in general, because so far the FrontLine Plus does not work on that.My babies are 9 lbs and 5.5 lbs, do any of you have used it with good results?

| OMG that sounds like a nightmare, so sorry Very similar to my flea-killing escapades. Frontline stopped working for my kiddos, so we got them pretty badly. I used to use Revolution on my first Yorkie and we never had ONE bug of any kind! Changed vets with the new girls and he talked me out of Revolution and I so regret it because two years in a row now we have gotten infested with fleas My baby never had a reaction to it, but of course all dogs are different. If you're going to use it, then just make sure that you can stay with the pups for a few hours to watch for any reactions. Talk to your vet about it. I am thinking that when what I've got is gone (Heartgard and K9 Advantix II) that I will start using Revolution again. Gosh, good luck with all this stuff, I really feel badly for you!!!

| Oh good! The thing I really liked about it was that it's all in one. The girl I had on it wouldn't eat the Heartgard chew, so vet recommended Revolution and we loved it, never one flea, tick, mite of any kind. I hope and pray that this nips it all in the bud for you! Nothing worse than battling bugs and feeling like you're on the losing end Bless your heart!!!!

| At Bird MItes Don't know if you have cable or not. But you may consider watching that show called Infestation... There was a episode on there regarding these pesky little tiny creatures. They are VERY hard to get rid of. Removing the nest wasn't enough. They are just as bad as bed bugs. They crawl in through the tiniest of cracks. All it takes is for you to disturb them. If I recall correctly the family ended up moving out.. |

If I recall correctly the family either ended up moving out or they steam the area with high pressure hose. sorry it was a while ago..these tiny acrobatic raiders were coming in through a crack in the tile along the wall under a bathroom window. As you are doing, the cleaning was endless but the kids complained constantly on things crawling on them until the mother found the hairline crack under the window. Like you she sprayed, wiped sprayed, wiped to no end. Cleaned and washed. Paid the exterminator, a waste. These tiny white bugs were in the walls...I do believe they ended up moving out..... |
