Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | This Dog really IS an Angel I just saw this on our local news but it happened in Canada. An 18 month old Golden Retriver saved an 11 year old boy from a cougar attack. The story is amazing. Family's 'Angel' dog saves boy from cougar attack - CNN.com This part isn't in the link I posted but the boy said his dog 'Angel' kept following his every move as he collected firewood in his backyard and he didn't understand why she was acting so protective and suddenly a cougar came out of nowhere running straight for him. Angel jumped over a lawn mower and raced to put herself between the boy and the cougar.....the police said the attack lasted for almost 15 minutes.... This dog fought HARD - police were called and the cougar was killed. The best part is .....ANGEL LIVED Had this attack been on the boy he could easily have been killed. This dog has the perfect name - Angel |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Awww I'm getting ready for work and had to stop - they're on the Today Show and showed Angel with her injuries - she had to have surgery - fractured skull and is now home with her family. What a feel good story ! Goldens are such gentle dogs normally but this one really is a hero. So was the cop who shot the cougar. Angel had a nice juicy steak for dinner ! and the boy at 11 was very impressive on the news. |

| What a bittersweet story. Angel cetainly is a true hero. Amazing she survived that attack. Wow, 15mins is a very long time to fight with a cougar. I'll watch for the news tonight. Maybe they will show it later tonight also. And people call them dumb dogs! Golden's are beautiful animals and intellegent also but this one went far and beyond her calling. Glad there was a happy ending. |
