| WHY?! Resume/application (kind of a vent) Okay, can someone PLEASE explain to me WHY they ask for work history and all that on an application when you can get that exact information from the resume. It's so repetitive and aggravating repeating the same thing over and over again!!! I'm going to take a five minute break and get a glass of caffeinated goodness and then get back to work. Okay I feel better now.

| Well, depending on how bad I am in need of a job at the time, I input "See Resume" just to piss off those HR folks requesting the duplications... |

| I'm sure there's a reason for duplicating questions...maybe testing your memory...honesty...patience or accuracy? |

| I am one of those HR people. We do online applications only. When we did paper applications, you had to sign that all the information is true and correct (which is not on a resume).

| Probably several reasons. Everyone's resume style is different and may or may not contain the info that the employer wants to see on a formal job application. The resume is to impress the one doing the screening for the interviews and the hiring. The job application is to give info to HR who does all of the background checking. They don't want to take the time to read through the resume and figure everything out when it is so much easier for you to put it on the application form in the desired format. Also the "Job Application" has verbiage required under the law for screening job applicants, which is not contained in a resume. Ultimately, if I really want a job, I am more than happy to tout my prowess in duplicate, triplicate or quadruplicate if that is what it takes.

| BAH! I hate that too! Ive been applying for a MILLION jobs too and they make you type in you ENTIRE resume one by one, work experience, education, blah blah and THEN they make you attach your resume as well. It gets old, it takes SO LONG just to fill out ONE stupid application and then they don't even respond!!!! UGH. I esp. hate the ones where they ask you those weird questions like "I think all people are generally honest" then you have to agree, disagree, mostly agree, and so on. And they ask you the same question in like 5 different forms. UGH. I did one today that had 54 PAGES of those questions. Can you tell I needed to vent as well? Anyway good luck!
