| triglycerides anyone? Ok, I went for my general check up last week and the doctor sent me to get a blood work. They got the results and the nurse called me this morning. My cholesterol is 177 my good cholesterol is 50 and my bad cholesterol is 68 all this is great as far as I know, but then I get my triglycerides and the number is pretty high, 295 when he normal is around 150!!! I don't know what is going on. I eat very healthy and the reason why is because hubby's high cholesterol runs in the family and I don't want him to get HC, but apparently, I'm the one in trouble. I'm not overweight at all and I walk every single day. Hubby wants me to go for a second opinion. I guess I'm confused because if everything else is great why the triglycerides are so high?? Does anyone have this problem?

| I don't know much about them but hopefully someone can answer your questions. Maybe call the nurse back and ask the doctor why yours could be so high.

| Mine were way out of wack at one time. My choles was 145 and trigl. was in the 500's. I cut out a lot of baked goods and really started on the fresh veggies and fruits. I love crescent rolls and pastries. Not that I lived off of them but would partake in stuff like that more than I should have. At any rate, my doc said that I needed to see a nutritionist if I didn't get that number down so I worked on it and 4 weeks later I had gotten it down considerably!!! Good luck with yours.

| Here is a list I found online Conditions that may cause high triglycerides include: Obesity. Poorly controlled diabetes. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). Kidney disease. Regularly eating more calories than you burn. Drinking a lot of alcohol. Certain medicines may also raise triglycerides. These medicines include: Tamoxifen. Steroids. Beta-blockers. Diuretics. Estrogen. Birth control pills. Certain types of high cholesterol and high triglycerides are caused by genetics.
