| What do you do when you have the flu? I have come down with the flu for the first time in 15 years. So far the only thing soothing is hot tea with lemon and honey. What home remedies make you feel better, besides tea, chicken soup and a steam bath?

Well, my hubby had the flu 2 weeks ago and he added a shot of whiskey to the tea with the honey! Don't know if it helped the flu, but by the time he finished it, he didn't really care! | |

| if your throat is sore, warm salt water, plenty of rest, lots of fluids, and rock and rye, that will knock anything out of you, but, if you dont' like the taste of whiskey(Like me), then stay away from that... |

| Lots of fluids and lots of rest nothing really seemed to help around here not even tamiflu if you feel like your not getting better go to the doctor dh got a secondary infection from the flu and it put him in the hospital for several days. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

| I'm so sorry that you're not well. I use the tea with honey and whiskey also, that's what grandma always gave us. You don't really don't care so much if you're sick if you use the whiskey. Chicken soup and steam......& I usually whine alot also.

| That's a definite whine, whining, whiner...with the flu. To anyone that comes close. I also cuddle up to my moist heat pad if I have the muscle aches and chills.

| So I am on day 4 of this crap and I am really missing the original formula Nyquil. This new stuff does nothing. I did sign my life away and bought some Sudafed. At least I don't think my head will explode now. Is anyone else angry that because of a few idiots the rest of us normal people can't easily buy stuff to make us feel better? Anyway, the reason for this post is, HOW MUCH WHISKEY should I add to my tea? I have a bottle about 15 years old. Do you think that is still good? I'm not much of a drinker, I do enjoy wine. Would wine be OK just to drink, not to put in the tea? Yes, I am getting really annoyed with this crud, but do feel a bit better today than yesterday. I have graduated from the bed to the couch for half of the day so far.
