| An observance......... Why is it that a member is only popular and treated nicely by other members IF that member shares all his or her personal information with other members? This is the internet and I think everyone has a right to their privacy no matter how some may pry and try to badger for information, and when they do not get it they become quite unfriendly. I have just observed this. |

| I haven't noticed this, and yes have shared personal information, because I've needed prayers and I know how many people here believe in the power of prayer. I've never been made to feel ashamed of what a write, and that's a powerful feeling to me. If you feel differently you have the right to keep your business personal. I like you, and I'm sure a lot of people here do too.

| I'm sorry you have that have gotten that impression... I personally have not felt like I had to divulge personal info...I do see a few members on here who do do this, but it is strictly voluntary on their part.... It's only natural to feel a closer connection to people when we know more about, so I guess the people who are more open would have closer connections to other members....those of us who are more private or are less open would probably have a harder time making those connections because we know so little about them....jmo

| Hmmm, I haven't found that to be true in the least. I have never really talked much about personal information nor has anyone asked and I feel like I've made tons of friends here and always feel welcome. I think it's wonderful that when members need or want to share they know we will be there for them but it is far from required to be accepted.

| I haven't noticed that either. What type of personal information are you referring to? I'm guessing you're referring to things like someone saying a parent died, someone being sick, etc. Things like that are so generic that I don't really find it THAT personal. It's not like a family member or friend would ever find it and know that it was you.

| i don't see that happening. but maybe i have missed something. There is no "popularity" contest going on here. we all share the same passion for yorkies...and that is a common thread. I really don't see how anyone would need to feel popular here. if you don't feel the need to share your personal info, then so be it. no biggie. i don't know much about very many people here...but i like them just the same some people do like to know where other members are from...even if it is just the state or country...just because we are curious about other nationalities and different areas. but i think that is about the only reason we care where other members are located. and some don't even care that much

BANNED! | I haven't noticed that either. Perhaps its not what your saying, but how its being taken and comes across. My suggestion is find different ways to say things possibly so they arent taken out of context. |

| Depends on what you are referring to as 'personal information,' I suppose. Information related to dogs, or personal info outside of dogs, like family, jobs, etc? Also depends on the topic of conversation I guess. In general, I only give personal info that I don't mind others knowing. As you said, this is the internet and anyone could come in here and read it. I don't really think people are treated rudely because they don't tell their life story. I am sorry if this has happened to you. |

| i also want to add that some of us like to get to know each other...and the new members because it helps us to know that the members are not on here just to stir up trouble and stuff like that. we all try to be friendly and have a friendly atmosphere that others like to be a part of. but again, it is all personal preference. if you don't want to share, just kindly say that you would rather not get too personal...or something like that.

Well thanks hon. I just think this is the net and there is not need to be unfriendly to people whom you dont know. I love this site, it is a great forum and I enjoy it loads and loads, it will just be nice to be welcomed and not shunned. I do not care nor will I share personal information on the internet more than I have two dogs. That is all I need to share | |
