| How to insulate windows? I live in an apartment (that I don't own- so obviously I'm not gonna replace the windows) and our windows are kind of drafty and last winter our bill was OUTRAGEOUS! I'd like to prevent that as much as possible this year- and it's already starting to get cool. Anyone have any suggestions on something I can buy to insulate my windows? I guess I'm looking for some type of kit. I'm hoping I can get something that isn't to obstructive. I'd like to still be able to see out of my windows and have it be as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Any suggestions? |

| There is a type of plastic that you put over the windows and then apply heat and it shirnks and becomes quite air tight. If you have a Home Depot or Lowes they will be able to help. |

| I never thought about looking there. I have a gift card for Lowes, so that's perfect. Thanks! |

| My windows are terrible. I buy the shrinkwrap kits from walmart that are relatively inexpensive. They work pretty well and it doesn't take too long to put them up.

| Our house is 103 yrs. old. The windows get quite drafty in the winter. So we also buy the window kits from walmart. I'm sure that Lowe's sells them as well. You just clean around the window with alcohol (included in the kit) Then you apply double stick tape. Stick the plastic to it and trim it. Then you use your blow dryer to shrink the plastic so that it is tight. It is very clear too. Most of the time you never know it's there.

| Oh, that's awesome to know. I'll check out Walmart too since they'll probably be the cheapest. Thanks everyone! |

| I know some people build a wooden frame that just fits inside the window and puts the shrink wrap on it. Then it is removable for summer and reusable the next winter. Kind of like temporary storm windows on the inside.
