darker Belly I was playing with my Kissie. She loves when I rub her belly and I noticed that the skin of her belly is darker. It was pink and since a few month, her belly became dark almost black. Do you have some comments? Thank you.

This happened to Edie about 2 years ago, and it is still dark!! I posted on YT asking about it, and didn't get any answers. I have asked 2 vets about it, and they did not seem concerned. Edie is very active and healthy, so I have stopped being concerned. I have always been curious, though, about what caused the change. It happened almost overnight. If you find the answer, please let me know.

oh--forgot to mention that when Edie's belly got darker, I was afraid it was Cushings disease. But the main symptom is drinking a lot of water. I carefully monitored what she drank every day (I measured in the a.m. and then measured what was left in the p.m.) and she really only drinks a couple of ounces a day. So that's not it. Both vets I took her to agreed with me. The vets, by the way, said that her skin looked fine to them...they did not seem concerned that the color was not pink.

| I noticed that my 4 yr old Yorkie mix's belly just turned dark too. He seems to be OK. My Yorkie Daisy still has a pink belly. I wondered if it had anything to do with a grass allergy or something since the grass is coming up now. He isn't itching or anything though.

i suppose it is possible that it is an allergy. Edie doesn't have any itchness either, and it is year round.

Thank you for your comments I am not really concerned because Kissie is healthy. I was just curious if it happens to others. Kissie is 2 1/2 years old, so it's not a matter of age. For me she is still a puppy. It's not a big deal if she seems in good shape and healthy, Thank you for your comments.
