| Anyone Ever Heard? Has anyone ever heard of America's Pet Registry, INC.? I got on their site yesterday and I cant really make heads or tails on if they are like AKC, CKC, or similar to them. I know someone that has their dog registered through them and just wanted to know if anyone else does or knows more about them.

| They are a pet registry. Some breeders use them when they are unable to get registered with the AKC and others. You can register a cross-breed dog if the parents are registered with them as purebreds or cross-breeds previously. You will find a lot of breeders that have been suspended from the AKC will use them or breeders that want to sell cross-breeds and rare-breeds as registered. |

| Doesn't sound like the best place to have your dog registered, but if your not planning on breeding or showing the papers aren't all that important.

| It's a crappy registry and papers from them mean absolutely nothing. Any dog can be registered with them for a fee, no matter if it is purebred or mixed.

| Thanks for your input, I am not going to go with them. Also is a copy of an email I just recieved from them. Hi Rebecca, We are strictly a purebred dog registry just like AKC. Everydog that goes into APRI has to have at least a three-generation pedigree behind it. A lot of registries like CKC, UKCI, and ACA will register dogs from "foundation stock" which means that there is no background behind it to prove that it is a purebred dog. If you have an AKC registered dog then it is really easy to get it dual registered with us. All that you need to do is make a copy of your AKC certificate and fax or mail it in with a note that says "please dual register". If it is registered with another company and we do not already have the info in our system we will need you to provide a pedigree on it in order to register it with APRI. I am attaching some litter information for you. Jerry W. Ferguson Director of Customer Relations America’s Pet Registry, Inc. | This is from their website... America’s Pet Registry, Inc. recognizes and registers all purebred dogs and cats accepted by all reputable cattery clubs, kennel clubs, rare breed clubs, and other registration services. APRI does not register cross breeds, animals without prior registration as purebreds, or mongrels. |
