| Talking about sleep - How deep My Yorkie (Bikini for those who followed my story) was very sick for the past week... she is slowly recovering and for the last 2 nights she has been sleeping with me. But this morning I could barely wake her up.... I honestly tought she was dead! I had a panic attack And slowly she started waking up and shaking herself... Could it be recovering sleep? Have you ever seen this? Thanks |

| [F]I know what ur talking about. Max has sometimes done that to me and he has not been recovering from anything. I think they just go into a deep sleep and it takes a while for them to wake up. He did it once and I started freaking out and screaming at my husband that Max was not alive and he was like ur crazy. But it took a good one or two minutes for him to wake up and open his eyes slowly and stretched and all that stuff. So don't worry sometimes they need a lot of They are a lot like us that need to go into a deep sleep once in a while. But if your worried it does no harm to call your Vet and ask him if that is normal. Is she on some type of medication? If she is check that its not a side effect from the medicine for her to be sleepy all the time.[/FONT]

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have had that happen on occassion when they are not sick, but I would be extra catious with Bikini as she was so sick. Keep a close eye on her when she is napping and see if she is hard to wake from a short nap. Could it be that going all night is too long for her without something on her tummy. WHen Cali was a puppy and so sick I had to feed her every 4-5 hours so that she would not go hypoglycemic. Maybe try feeding her right before bed and if possible a snack or nutrical during the night. I hope she get better soon I know how hard it's beeen for you both.

| Thanks for the answer. She slept better last night and day by day she is recovering. She has a possible Liver Shunt, we will have to do a test in a couple of weeks when she is better. But she is starting to be her old self again which is great But I think sometimes dogs need deep sleep like us. And cuddle against me and my husband makes it more comfortable for her She had no worries whatsoever Have a nice day everyone! |

| I know what you mean... I know what you mean. There has been times when boobah has been dead asleep and when I see her she seems to be dead. I check her breathing and I can see her little tummy go up and down and get relieved. You're right, they do look like they've gone but actually they are sleeping. Its the look they have on their face.

| She follows me everywhere and if I"m not there she will follow my boyfriend She is really cute... When I brought her home on Tuesday with her IV she slept with me. She was in a bad condition. The next morning she was a complete different dog. She was borded in the hospital and a 24 hour of loves helped her heal. She was so sick but now with love and care she is getting much better everyday Thanks for the support! |
