Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Can't figure this one out...can you? We have 3 dogs; Alfie, a 13 yr old cocker spaniel mix, Lucky or 2+yr old yorkie, and Lexie our 1 yr old yorkie. This is so weird to me ...maybe you can figure it out. When we decide to go for a walk, get the leashes out and begin to put them on the dogs, Lucky goes into a barking frenzy over the fact that Alfie is going along. Just Alfie, not Lexie. He barks in an irate tone, non-stop, and should he get down off my lap or if I put him down he actually takes off after Alfie and proceeds to bite him where ever he can reach. If I keep hold of him until everybody has their leashes on and we proceed on our walk, he will try to get at Alfie for about the first half a block or so til he gets over it and is then fine with him being there for the rest of the walk. Again, he only does this with Alfie, not Lexie. He and Alfie get along fine any other time; always has. So, what is his problem with Alfie joining us for walks? Would love to hear your opinion on this one....

| Maybe he's trying to be the alpha male, and that's why he doesn't bother Lexie.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Did'nt think about that. Makes sense as to why he wouldn't bother Lexie. But why just when we go for walks?

| They're probably just more excited during that time than any other time they spend together.

| we have 2 labs, millie, and elno, and 1 jack russell Gracie, whenever we go o down to the creek or throw the tennis ball, Millie has to be in control of elno she will bite his arm pits and pull at his front leg, she only does this with elno, gracie can run along side her under her and she find, but elno is a differnt story she has to be in control of him, they both have been fixed. I think it's a alpha dog thing, when they are by themselves they are best friends, they sleep together and eat out of each other bowls, it just when the human contact comes into play that she shows these traits. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | WOW, it's all starting to make sense now. Why I didn't think about the alpha male thing, I don't know. Maybe cuz I'd never have thought that Lucky would think of himself as the alpha. But when you (Ichabob) mentioned a very similar scenario, it dawned on me that surely he would assume the alpha male status with something that involved me as he and Lexie are very much "my babies". I do scold him when he throws these "tantrums"; he does know that above all else,Mommy and Daddy are in charge. Thanks soooo much for all of your help

| Millie is a very self center dog, I have try scolden her and it does no good, it just makes me mad so I have taken to ingoring her. it works better, but she still picks on elno to the point that he has bite marks on him , now bear in mind elno is a good 30lbs heavier then miller, he could very easly put her in her place if he chose too. Wicket the yorkie she knows is off limits and she will not come near him at all.. figure that one out. she stays a good 2 feet from him at all times, |
