Thread My friend just got her new baby and the breeder told her that he was only gonna be 3.5 lbs as an adult but come find that she took him to her vet yesterday and at 4 months he is already three pounds. Now my friend wants to know if he is going to gain anymore weight or will he just gain the half pound and stay that way? If anyone can answer that it would be of great help to her. And if he is gonna gain more weight how many pounds will he be full grown. |

| You double the 12 week weight and that gives you an estimate of adult weight. He still has alot of growing to do and I think he will be bigger than 3.5 lbs

| That would be great cuz her mother didn't want him at all but when she told her that he was only going to be 3.5 lbs she said she could keep him I guess 1.5 lbs isn't really gonna make a difference aleast we hope it isn't |

Your puppy is still young and continue gaining and growing. Tell your mom that all she should be worried about is if her pup is healthy.

| Six pounds isn't a big dog. My little guy is 5.5 lbs, and he looks like a little midget.

| Is a five to six pound yorkie considered a teacup or toy |

BANNED! | Sweetie first of all there is no such thing as a Teacup Yorkie, it is only a small puppy of the litter (referred to as the runt). The AKC standard for a Yorkie is 7 lbs and under. Heres a link for you to read: http://www.ytca.org/standard.html Love your puppy know matter what size it is!!!! Weight is very hard to be exact on it is used as a guideline only. No one can predict what type of growth spurts they may or may not have. 5 to 6 lbs. for a Yorkie is a nice size and believe me is not that big at all. | There is no such thing as teacup yorkies. Unscrupulous breeders will call them that to get more money. All yorkies are in the toy group.

| akc300, don't be fooled by people who know nothing about this breed and don't be fooled by unscrupulous breeders. There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie....There is only ONE kind of yorkie...Yes, some are smaller and yes, some are larger, but they are ALL yorkies The AKC only recognizes yorkies as being toy dogs. Do a search on here, and you will get lots of info on the topic I hope your friend's mom really learns to love this furbaby regardless of it's size. Believe me, instead of focusing on size, they should be focused on whether or not this yorkie is healthy. A standard yorkie is 7lbs or under, but even if the furbaby gets to be 10 lbs, he will still be a very small dog.
