| Problem with scared yorkshire in public places Hi guys Im new here, glad to have found this forum. I just had a small problem and I need some advices. whenever I bring out my yorkie to malls or other hangout places, she's so afraid. her body begins shaking or shivering, she seems so scared to the outside world, and it lasts for like 3 hrs. after that then she start to clam down. when I bring her out I put her in this special doggy bag, and she still shivering inside. shes 2 yrs old, and I rarely take her out from the house before. does any of you have this problem? coz I really want her to feel good, confident, safe when goint out. is it too late to change that character, since shes mature already.. |

| Did I understand you correctly when you said she is 2yrs old and you just started taking her out? If so, no wonder she is scared. This is all new to her. I would do it very gradually. Maybe 10 mins at a time and increase the time outdoors to 15mins in a couple of days. By doing this you should have no problem in time, however, please take it slow. Good luck., |

| I would try socalizing him to the outside world a little at a time, until he feels comfortable. |

| How about a class? How about a class at Petsmart??? It really helped with Shelby..... she is a social butterfly!!! I think that seeing all the other dogs ..... and they were NOT scared... she was able to loosen up and enjoy herself (and our Petsmart can be a busy place). The class is great.... and it will help with socialization ( plus most instructors will help with individual issues, too)
