| UKC vs, AKC I was jsut wondering if any of you have any experience with universal kennel club. That is where Gizzie is registered and I never hear that much about it.

| I show in the AKC, but I have a sister-in-law that shows in the UKC. It is geared more for the owner to show and they do not allow handlers. The AKC is the more respected, but the UKC is from what I hear the more fun. My sister-in-law went BIS with her Louisiana Calahoon (?sp) which is something that I don't even dream of doing. The UKC also is an avenue for those with breeds that are not in the AKC to have their dogs critiqued. I prefer the AKC at this time as they only allow the pure-bred dogs to be registered, giving them that respectability, but lately it seems that they are trying to loosen their stance on that. We will see what the future holds. I plan to try the UKC shows someday for the fun, but there are not very many shows in this area. I plan to stick with the AKC. |
