| Is your neighborhood dog friendly??? I was just reading all the posts on sweetr's thread (Happy Birthday ) and they were reminding me of some of the neighborhoods I've lived in in the past. Now, we live in a really dog-friendly neighborhood. Everytime my husband and I think of moving, we decide against it because we are so comfortable here with our three dogs and one cat. LOL, if you are in my backyard on a nice spring evening and a firetruck happens to go by in the vicinity, you literally cannot hear for a couple of minutes because of the "howling" that goes on in the backyards around me. One starts and the rest join in. The best thing is, these are happy, well-cared for pets, not a single pet, that I can picture, lives outdoors. I think the owners would be put straight quickly Pets who go for daily walks/jogs, trips to the park...people are always walking their dogs past our house, very often they have more than one. Heck, in the 7 houses nearest to me (my immediate neighbors) I can only picture one house without any dogs (they're new to the neighborhood, perhaps we'll change all that) and count 11 dogs and an unknown quantity of kitties. Sure, living in here has it's drawbacks. Our house is old (1932) and needs some work, occasionally some pet owner ignores the clean up rules and leaves poo lying around, and with small dogs I need to be alert for the big dogs when walking my two. (although I can honestly say that I have never, not once, encountered a problem and have only had a couple of times when I was concerned that I might). On another note, a few years back we had some break-ins in the neighborhood. The policeman who came to our block party told us that the robbers only chose homes without dogs..the ones without barking. So, I read the stories about the dog unfriendly neighborhoods, and I think...hmmm, maybe those new homes we've been looking out, aren't such a great idea after all. What is your neighborhood like???

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Love thy Neighbors Mine if very pet friendly. Diggy has taken to the neighbor Larry...He is a retired guy but still young at Id say 55-60. He loves to run over to him and bounce and play with him and Larry loves it! They have 2 GORGEOUS shelties so they also come see us often too. The other side neighbor is pretty quiet but has a chi/something mix, small dog Id say 13 pounds, and he is a cutie! Thier yard is privacy fence so i dont get to see him as often. He escaped the yard last month, got scared, and sat outside thier gate so we went over and let him back in the yard and he hasnt been outside the fence since. Oh and we have a HUGE Standard Apricot Poodle that walks by everyday and Bella punks him out BAD he tries so hard to avoid her, but she has his #!

| Most of my neighbors have pets and alot of them bark also so I dont worry alot about mine. Its the ones that leave them out in the front without a leash that makes in pet unfriendly and it is scary to walk you dogs at times. |

| It's only since I we got Lucy that I have really gotten to know my neighborhood! We never spent time out from because of our pool but since we have gotten her we have spent time in our front yard letting her play in the grass and have met many of our neighbors. Of course everyone is enthralled with the new addition and come over to see her. It's been great and a great way to finally get to know our neighbors and their pets

| My neighbourhood is not particularly dog friendly. It's really difficult to find other small dogs (or even large ones) to socialize my yorkie with when I'm on walks. On top of that, there's a man in my area that likes to walk his pit bull off leash ....and b/c I live near a golf course, there are coyotes in my area So, if I want to take Tobi on an extended safe and loooong walk where he can run and play with dogs his size, I have to take him over to my bf's place or to the beach..both of which are a drive away

| We live in the country and most of the neighbors have dogs. Closest neighbor is a 1/4 mile away. I can't walk my dogs because all of the neighbors let them run the countryside. Makes me angry. I don't know if they've had their shots or not. We also have coyotes and coydogs and whatever else someone dumps out here. I wish I could take mine for a nice walk down the road, but too afraid so we just walk around the yard.

| Most people in my neighborhood do have at least one dog. My two neigbors that live diagnoally from me... one has two shih tzu's and the other has a black lab. Someone around the corner has a chi... I aways see people out walking their dogs |

| Yes, my complex is pet friendly. It took me sometime to find it, I even moved out of my town after selling my house because I had a 13yr old terrier that I was not about to part with. I could not find a dog friendly condo anywhere in the area so I moved away into another county across a major bridge. I have not been sorry. I have a little trip to work each day because I work in the same town I left. It was worth it for me. Teddy has passed but now there is Buddy |

| Our neighbors are great We live on a small cul-de-sac with only five houses. Two of the neighbors have dogs that are wonderful and one neighbor is only there about 3 months of the year and our next door neightbor is hardly ever home. They have cats, but no dogs. We live on the corner with a park to the side, so we really only have those neighbors, plus one house behind that faces our side street, so we see the side of the house. That house just sold, and I'm not sure if anybody is living there. Guess if they are, they're quiet and never outside |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | My neighbor on one side has a very old, very fat, and very sweet chihuahua. She can hardly see, but still manages to toddle towards me if I greet her on one of her outdoor excursions. People across the street used to have a Silky but I've not seen him in ages, so he has probably crossed the bridge. He would be quite old if not. Directly behind us is a dachsund who appears to hate everyone and is never leashed when outside, but usually doesn't leave her yard -- except to charge at me! If the neighbor wasn't so nice, I'd be livid. Two doors from them are the neighbors from hell when it comes to pets. They have ANOTHER dog that barks virtually NON STOP after the first dog "ran away." The first dog was mostly kept outside and chained up, half the time with no water or with filthy water. He was a really nice dog. Very sweet. But he kept breaking his chain. We returned him on multiple occasions. (to keep him off a four-lane roadway). I got him water all the time. Last year, they went out of town for several days and left the care of the dog to a family member who lived nearby. Dog broke the chain again and a Good Samaritan tried to return him. They weren't home. When she saw where he was kept she said there was "no way" she was giving him back. (Some might disagree, but there was no way I was going to discourage her or tattle on her. That poor dog was destined to be roadkill one day anyway so maybe this way he got a better life.) |
