My mouth is hanging open!

There is a Mini Daschund on, which the owners "baby" alot. Well, the woman, dog trainer that does the show (whatever her name is, I can't think of it right now LOL) goes, "You are holding him close, kissing him, and treating him like A BABY - and as we all know, dogs are NOT babies, they are DOGS, and they need to be TREATED LIKE DOGS."

OMG, ok...I know dogs aren't babies...but, TREAT THEM LIKE DOGS!???

I don't even think I know what that means lol!

And actually, I DO consider my dogs (eww, I don't even like calling them DOGS, hah!) to be my babies

I mean I know they aren't HUMAN for pete's sake, but they are still my babies!! I was just thinking to myself...omg, now what on earth would this lady think if she stepped foot in MY house. My babies have toys GALORE, MORE CLOTHES THAN I DO, about 5 or 6 beds (although not ALL of them are in use - which I guess could be the #1 sign that they have TOO MANY

), 2 chairs, a ton of blankets and pillows, BAGS full of treats, and quite a wide selection of leashes. Omg, she would probably tell me that I needed to seek help....mental help.

LOL.

Man...I just can't believe that she was so shocked that they only "loved" on the dog alot....if she only knew what was going on in South TX

A *dog* trainer would have a field day in my house! Both my pit bull and my yorkie mix are both treated like complete babies. Slade is only 5 mnths old and he already has more stuff than I do (4 beds, 10 blankets, numerous clothes, etc). My pittie girl is just as spoiled.

Cesar Milan would be appaled!

I can't even bring myself to watch that show. Let's hope no one EVER gave me that ultimatum....let's just say it would be an easy choice.

And, yes, there's lot's of "babying" up here in North Texas too...but she IS my baby!

We dont' get cable so we don't watch any of those shows anyway.

I think babying is okay as long as you recognize the fact the dog still needs some training.

The other day I realized I was letting Slade get away with stuff I wouldn't have let my pit get away with at that age, such as nipping, so I stepped his trainig up a bit. I think its okay to spoil as long as they have some training to go with the spoiling.

And rest assured that we Yankies up here in New York are babying our Yorkies beyond belief too!!! Sadie has every toy conceivable, clothes, beds, the run of the house - totally outta control - LOL!!! Those folks would have me committed to the nearest psychiatric hospital they could find -

I watched that show, and I think she was a little harsh especially when she was making comments about the clothes....lol, Tinkerbell and Chiquito must love to be humiliated because they like clothes

. All my neighbors think Cesar Millan should come and have a talk with me about how I treat Tinkerbell

Now that she might be pregnant, It's just going to get worse, she will be spoiled rotten

Same here, I can totally relate. I bought them 4 new toys just today. They have so many toys, they can't possibly play with them all. But the "squeekys" have gotten broken on some of them and Daisy has to have squeeky ones. I have given some toys to shelters when they get new ones. I can't hardly walk into a pet store without getting them something. lol And I don't refer to them as "dogs" either. They are my babies. lol

So you can't treat them like your kids? I'm sure that lady would be disgusted if she saw just a handful of the posts on here!!!

That reminds me of tonight, Rocky wanted to go swimming, so I let him, then took him out and he still kept begging to go back in, so I caved in and put him back in the pool. I told my fiance how I realized how spoiled Rocky is and he's like "I could've told you that with in the first 2 weeks we had him!"

I watch that show too. I didn't see that certain episode. But I agree I couldn't go on that show although right now I need some help with training Cody. That woman is just too cruel with her comments. My cody is my little baby. and since he is fairly new i got him the day before fathers day. i got the shopping itch fever! i want to go out and get him some clothes and lots more toys!!!
i have to go to a bday later and i may see about going to target afterwards to find him some stuff

I cant wait til he is out of his chewing stage i got him this cute florida gator dog tag on the back has his name my home number and the city and state which we live. i let him wear it and of course he put his special touch and added his teeth marks! lol
