| Getting them used to the water Today Bella spent a lot of time in her kiddie pool due to the heat here in New England. Some wondered how to get their dogs to like the water, here is what works for Bella I put a bunch of toys in there for her to get out. She took them all out, then put them all back in. In order to get them she had to get her head wet and down in the water. A couple more days and we will put her in the big pool as it is getting opened today (too many chemicals today and tomorrow for her). I bought a real nice life jacket and the scamper ramp that someone had on here, can't wait!! Here is Bella (looking like a rat) with her kiddie pool

| Well isn't that the cutest little pic! I love his rubber duckies! I think I have already traumatized my dog with his baths...I should have done like you and buy toys for him in the water. He's 10 months old now...that's probably too late to re-introduce him to his friend, the water...or maybe not? Thanks for sharing tho, he's just the cutest little water rat there is!

| That is such a sweet photo!! My girls like the sea but the summers are so short over here that by the next year they will have forgotten. Gypsy Rose loved last summer as we spent a lot of time on the beach and liked to swim in the rock pools but this year hasn't been warm enough yet. Gizzie is not yet a year old so has only paddled so far but can't wait to take her! Maybe for the time being I will buy them a paddling pool ... your baby looks so happy! Ana xx |

| We took Tucker to the lake with us today and he hated the water. He was scared of the beach and the whole lake thing. I did not even take him on the boat. I thought it was a bad ideal since he was reacting the way he was. He shook alot. I don't guess I will take him anymore. I was hoping he would like it. It is a BIG part of our family time in the summer |

| We just bought a one ring blow up pool for Gracie our Yorkie and Sampson our Maltese. Sammie dove in headlong to get the rubber ducks but Gracie is very nervous about the pool. This from the Yorkie who dove in the duck pond twice at our local park - in the middle of winter!!!!!! Anyway, we are letting her get used to it. She has gotten both her paws wet. Hopefully she will finally get in soon. |

| I jealous!! I want to teach my dogs to swim but they just don't like the water. They don't even like to step in the grass in the morning and get their feet wet. |

| I don't know if my dogs would like to swim or not. I've been too nervous to let them go in a lake or anything, but a 1 ring pool sounds like a great idea! I'll have to try that.

| I have to give Asia just a little bit of water in her dish several times a day to keep her from making a mess. The bar I hang out at has a patio and they let us bring our dogs with us. The dish they give the dogs water in they started calling the kiddy-pool because Asia just dives right in it. |

| Pita is in every puddle she can get in outside but she won't go near the pool! The rafts floating around really freak her out. I am trying to get her used to it a little at a time cuz I want to teach her to swim to the steps in case she ever falls in when I'm not close. My ferrets figured out how to swim to the drain and climb out when they fell in or pushed each other in! It was soo cute, now they have their own kiddy pool in their screen room not by the pool! |
