| One thing you would do differently...? After my children became adults, I constantly wondered "what if.." I had done this or that differently. One thing I KNOW I would do now that I didn't do well then ...is worry less and play more!! As a new puppy owner, I am curious to know what some of you would do differently if you had the opportunity that some of us have with new puppies and/or owning Yorkies for the first time. I for one would appreciate knowing. Thanks in advance.

| I would start training earlier and be more consistent! That is really the number one thing I would do differently and that is really for Simon since I've had him since he was a puppy! I think this is a really good thread idea |

| I would probably have Conner sleep in his own bed instead of mine. He has to get so close to me that I cannot even roll over. I wake up in the morning with a sore arm because I slept on it all night long!! Sometimes I get out of bed so that he will get close to my husband, then I can sleep and roll over and he can't.

| Excellent thread. I would have followed the vet's advice when Sophie was 16 weeks old (you will need to take her to puppy class to meet other dogs and learning training). Did I follow her advice? No, and Sophie was scared and didn't like other dogs or people to come near me with the exception of my two daughters. Charlie is completely different, very social and not a barker.

| I have to agree with others about obedience training. I thought Daisy was too young to go to puppy school until she was a year old. Then when we fianlly did go I saw the younger puppies in the class were so eager to learn and please their parents. If I had it to do over I would have taken them right after they had all of their puppy shots.

| I took my four month old boy to classes and he loves them, very quick learners he was so nervous when I first got him towards other dogs and now 8 months later he is great with other dogs and can read their temprament better. I regret not prepairing him for showing earlier as I thing he would make a great show dog! Great Topic ta.

| I would've done puppy class. I looked into it but found it to be too expensive. Now Otis is a runner. It would've been worth the money to not have to constantly watch him with doors and gates.

| I would have socialized them more and done more training also. Also...and some may or may not be honest enough to agree with this one...I would not have gotten a second Yorkie. I thought Jo needed a playpal...Riley doesn't play very often at all...I thought Jo was independant and didn't want to sit with me...in reality Riley is usually on my lap or snuggled up next to me and Jo looks at me with a sad face like that's where he would like to be. Riley is a great companion for Jo, he loves to snuggle...they're great buddies...but...it's a year now after adding Riley and I can see where it may have actually 'hurt' Jo in some ways rather than help him. |

| I would definitely start training earlier, from the day I bring baby home. I would also start visiting the groomer earlier, starting at about 12 weeks.

| I would also have left my dog more often with family, as I am now going on 2 weeks holidays after having him for a year and feeling very anxious leaving him as I know he will fret and probably not eat! Had I made it a more regular thing earlier it would have been better for him.
