| Wierd question at Petsmart I was in Petsmart yesterday afternoon with Lacy, and this girl asked me if I wanted to breed her. She had a male yorkie (didn't have him with her). I told her no and that Lacy was spayed. Seems pretty odd to just ask some random person if they want to breed their dog... It seems like if your dog was of quality to breed you wouldn't have a problem finding another dog to breed with.

| I agree with you...seems odd to just ask a complete stranger this! However, I just took a look at the picture of your baby (your avatar) and she is GORGEOUS!!!! At least you know that girl has good taste because your dog is beautiful! Tammy |

| This does sound really odd but i guess some people are just desperate to make a few dollars. I would have said "No she's spayed" even if she wasn't it's kind of creepy for someone to ask such "personal" questions.

| I was in the vet office while ago and this man in the waiting room, ask me if I wanted to breed Phoebe, with his dogs, he just sold his car to pay for his chi, and poodle, so he was hoping to make enough money with them, he wanted Phoebe because she is a small yorkie, and is akc, etc... register, thank God Phoebe is spay. |

| I am always asked if I'm planning on breeding Maddie. Many times I will meet another yorkie owner who owns a boy and the first things they will ask me are: 1) Is Maddie male or female? 2) Is she spayed? I answer that Maddie is spayed. And they are always so sad, saying they're having a very hard time finding a female to breed their male to. |

| Same thing happened to me at Pet Supplies Plus. This lady asked me if I ever thought about studding Jake. Really kinda urked me because I never saw the woman before in my life. I told her no, he means more to me than any kind of money I could make from him. People are weird.....that's why I'd much rather spend my time with my dog. |

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | i have this happen to me all the time. When i am taking the babies out to potty i have a lot of people stop in their cars on the side of the road and ask if i am breeding or ask if i would breed them with their dogs i get it when i go to the store and when i was looking for Daisy i was taking Peeka with me to breeders houses to meet them and i kid you not almost every breeder asked me to breed Peeka with their female when their females went into heat again. it was awful how relentless they were. I hate taking them with me anywhere because of the attention they get i get surrounded in petsmart and it is really scary i had a guy follow me around the store once and i had to have the manager walk me to my car i was terrified he was going to snatch Daisy out of my arms. People see these dogs as nothing but money makers and it is really sad

| I would feel really uncomfortable asking a total stranger that question. Many people are just in it for 'good, fast money' |

| I don't understand why some people seem so desperate to stud their males. If I ever get a boy I'd want him neutered ASAP.

| I've had three people ask me that question...I find it really odd that people want to breed their females with random males that they bump into. All of the people who have asked have had girls under 4 lbs. Wobie isn't a teapot, but he's not a tiny either, and I try to educate these people about how harmful it would be to their little girl, as well as all the other little facts they haven't considered about breeding.

| What gets me is they ask if they can use your dog for breeding, but they don't bother to first ask if the dog is healthy or where you got it, or if it's even registered. Just shows they don't care, they only want to make money. A good breeder isn't going to approach a stranger about breeding their dogs. My son works at the store where I was approached, and he said he hears people asking strangers all the time about breeding their dogs. He said maybe we should go along with them next time, and then maybe we can see where they do all their breeding, and if it turns out to be a puppymill, report them. Not a bad idea. |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | OMG the same thing happened to me the other day!! I was going to post about it but then I forgot. I was in the store holding London and this guy with a thick brooklyn accent goes "How old is your Yorkage?" At first I ignored him cause I didn't know he was talking to me cause he said yorkige. Then he asked again and I'm like "My YORKIE?? She's about 8 months old" And he goes "My friend has one who's exactly the same size as yours and she's looking for someone to breed her with" and I was like "This is a girl..." he was like "yea hers is a boy". He said 'she' at first so i thought he said hers was a girl. Obviously this guy knew nothing about breeding. London is about 2 LBS!!! She is tiny and he clearly saw that!! And he thought I would breed her?!? Second of all the male has to be smaller than the female! He told me to take his friend's # down and i was like no thanks, she is too small and I am spaying her! Then I left...AND he kept saying YORKAGE!!! He didn't even know what they were called!! GOSH! Lol srry i was so mad, ppl are so rude and dumb sometimes.

Apparently, he's not only confused about what they are (yorkage ), but he doesn't know a male from a female either. | |
