| ![]() Ok - so I had to go to the doctor yesterday because I've had this weird itching thing for almost 3 years now. Well, the doctor asked if I had any pets, I said - Yes, 2 dogs. Then he started to write down a bunch of stuff on his notepad. Then he said - well they don't sleep with you do they?! And I blushed and said - Yes, actually they do. Then he started writing like crazy!! They are testing me to see if I have any allergies, but what would I do if I'm allergic to my dogs?!?! I'd just have to suck it up and be itchy I guess!!

| ![]() I am allergic to my dogs and cats - I've had the allergy patch test done several times. My yorkie and doxie both sleep with me. They don't bother me at all. Of course, I am on allergy medicine. Allegra is the best for my hives. I also use flonase everyday. Of course I am allergic to a lot of other things and get 4 allergy shots each month. I would never get rid of my dogs and cats, plus I volunteer in an animal shelter. My allergist is very good and gives me the right meds for my symptoms and updates them as needed. Worse comes to worse, keep a sheet between you and the dogs and use cortaid cream or a prescription cream. |

| ![]() Bendryl works good too. My Dr. said to take one or two pills when I go to bed. Works pretty well, If I am still itching in the day, I apply cortizone cream! Hope every thing comes out alright! Pat |

| ![]() Thanks guys - at least I know there's relief out there!! I am doing the patch testing now, so I'll find out at the end of the week. That would just be my luck though, to be allergic the the thing that makes me happiest in the world LOL!

| ![]() Yes, I'm assuming that they will prescribe me something once they determine what it is. It just never occured to me that it might be the dogs!

| ![]() That would be awful to be allergic to them. My last Yorkie, Muffin, had an allergy to fescue when it was damp, such as, in the spring. It really got her itching, but I would treat her paws and rear end ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Aren't Yorkies supposed to be non-allergenic though? |

| ![]() Since they have hair rather than fur, they are considered hypo-allergenic, but I think you can be allergic to their saliva too...

| ![]() I thought the same thing about them being hypo-allergenic, but I heard the same thing about their saliva!!! I have friend that comes over and the second Tino kisses her... her eyes start swelling, she gets itch, you name it... there are great drugs out there for these types of allergies. My dad gets the monthy shots and my friend takes claritin otc bc you don't even need a script for it! I would die if I ever became allergic to my babies!!!
