| Jake's and my story I know you all probably get sick of hearing me say I love Jake, but I really do. I'd just like to tell a story (even though some may think it's corny) of how Jake and I came to be. I've always wanted a yorkie, but I decided to wait until my kids were older. Now they're all moved out except one, and I have two grandchildren who I absolutely adore. I started feeling a little down last year because of several different reasons. My grandma had been put into a nursing home, which was very hard for me, and she hasn't been well for awhile. She is SO important to me, so it hasn't been easy. My two daughters had been on their own for awhile, and my son is busy with work and school. I also have Crohn's Disease, and I was having some health issues. A girl who used to work where I do had a girl yorkie, and I loved looking at pics of her. I decided now was a good time for a yorkie. My husband didn't want a small dog, but I basically said that I didn't care, I've wanted one all my life, I work, I'm an adult, I have plenty of love to give, and I'm getting one. So, I got online and began my search. After a couple times of scammers answering my ads I found this site and posted that I was looking for a yorkie. Within a week or so, someone answered my post and said she had one boy yorkie, an "only pup" who was 3 weeks old. I contacted her and she sent me pics and I was instantly in love. When I met him, I KNEW he was the perfect little guy that I was looking for and been waiting for all my life. I knew because it just felt "right". Everyday his breeder emailed me and let me know how he was doing and sent pics. And, I had fun shopping and learning everything I could -- right here on this site. When I brought Jake home, we bonded so fast and he became my little buddy and best friend. I can't even tell you what a difference he has made in my life. I had surgery and a rough recovery, so I was off work for 6 mos. I am so thankful that I had Jake during that time. As bad as I felt, he made me smile and laugh ALL the time and still does. He gave me the energy to get up everyday and to fight to get better. He amazes me with his energy, his intelligence, his cuteness, and his loyalty. I love him soooooooooo much!!! I really believe there's a reason for everything. There's a reason I wanted to wait to get a yorkie. There's a reason I picked this time to get one. There's a reason Jake was an only pup. I think we were meant to be together because he is the perfect little companion for me. Thank you for all the info I've learned here to help me be a better mommy to Jake! (BTW, my husband fell in love with Jake the second he saw him) Last edited by SJK1113; 05-26-2007 at 08:48 PM. |
