| Yorkie goes into weird energy boost running/jumping mode at random times He starts by growling at me, then maybe whining or barking and if I move as to get closer to him he would run crazy fast around the apartment while he continues to growl. He would make a funny growling sound because he's also catching his breath as he runs. This usually lasts for about five minutes until he gets physically tired or bored. It's unusual, and I wonder what causes him to do it. Can anyone help? |

| Is it a mean growl? It almost sounds like he is trying to get you to play. Percy will do alot of the same thing, jump/hopping, running, and such when he wants someone to play fetch or something like that.

| Sadie does this too!! Usually if she gets it in her head that she wants to play fetch (her favorite, but first you have to play tug of war), she plants her little body in front of you, whatever you're doing (paying bills, making dinner, she doesn't care), and just growls and runs rampant around the place...and if you play and then try to pick her up she hops real fast away...I really think that sounds like what your puppy is doing, and she's probably just playing, too. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | morgan does this all the time!! its hysterical she'll stand in front of me and stare and when i ask her what she wants she'll growl. so then i'll take a big step towards her and she'll run around in circles. its the best way to release all that energy and i don't have to do much myself. I just stand in the middle of her circle and slowly spin around while she does wide circles all while growling. here's a video of morgan and my mom: http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?use...9&ctime=013004 there are a few there actually of her running around like a nutter

| Google does this too; when he's being playful. The growl is a "fake challenge" that makes us all laugh. When he does it, I shuffle up to him very quickly and growl right back! Then I ask him if he wants to box. I crouch down with my fists held down just over his head, and he gets on his hind legs and bats at my fists with his front paws. I tell people I have a boxing dog and they don't beleive me until I say "Hey Google, wanna box?" LOL |

| Ok, I'm so relieved that my Canaan isn't alone in doing this. It's very cute indeed. I don't mind him doing it, I just wish I had more carpeted floor in the apartment for him to run. Thanks for the replies everyone! |

| I think he's just playing too. Izzy does this usually when I get home and in the evening. It's his last burst of energy before he crashes on the couch and falls asleep. He does the growling, barking thing and will run in circles around the house...so I just run along with him!

| Miko does this too! It's so funny. He's not trying initiate play though, he just does it for fun and until he wears himself out. He has a blast running like a crazy all over the house growling (not really growling, but making noises) as he runs. LOL

| Our Yorkie/Chi (two years old and 10 pounds) did this daily at just about dark since she was little - but now that this topic has been brought up - have not seen her do it for some time. We have another Yorkie/chi at 4 pounds and 3 years. Now that they have each other to play and tussle with - the wild running has stopped. Maybe they just need company??? |

| Trixie does this on a daily basis. It is hilarious to watch. She will come up to you and start staring at you. One you are looking at her, she will start growling and even barking. Move a step closer and she takes off running through the whole house. It is the chase me game. She loves everyone chasing her. My whole family will play this game with her, it is really funny when my grandpa will even chase her. Y ou can chase but you can never catch her, she is just way too fast. She must think she is part greyhound!! She will does this with the other dogs. Her and Scampers are hilarious to watch. She will stand and start staring at him and he is staring right back at her and they go in a stare down. It is funny to see who start the chase first. Scampers will usually get ready for the chase. He will be staring her down, never taking his eyes off of her and at the same time getting in a pounce and run postition. He does it in slow motion and they can stare down for five minutes before one of them moves and starts the chase. I will have to video tape it sometime, it is so fun to watch. She even does this at the dog park. She is the one getting the dogs to chase her. She likes to show off because she knows she is so fast. No dog has ever caught up to her before unless she just stops. I would love to get her in agiltiy some day because she truly is one of the fastest dogs I have ever seen!!
