| New Yorkie Puppy Hi, I recently purchased a yorkie puppy. She is about ten weeks old. I saw her parents who were very long haired and I know it takes about 6 months or so for a yorkie to develop the full coat. She does not have papers which is not a big deal to me but several people have told me she doesn't look like a yorkie. Her face almost looks like the face of a larger dog. Her ears are fully erect and from her neck down she looks like a yorkie. Her face doesn't have long hair. She has silky looking longer hair on top of her head, on the sides of her neck, and along her sides, chest, and bottom. The new hair growth from the root is lighter and the tips of the fur is black. She weighs 2.8 @8 weeks. What do you think? LorNich Last edited by LorNich; 03-27-2007 at 07:59 PM. |

| If you post a picture, it would be easier to tell. Most of what you've said sounds like a yorkie, the hair is lighter at the root than at the tip for my yorkie at that age, at least. Try to post a pic, and that will help people know. |

| No pictures? Without seeing pics, I say don't worry what people are saying! Have you looked at the pics we post here? I can't tell you how many people stop me and tell me they've "never seen a Yorkie that looks like her before!!" And my Vixxen is ALLLL Yorkie!! Turning at the roots with dark ends sounds right....

| Just had to laugh as I am just going through this trying to figure out if my little Bijou is a Yorkie mix or not. I posted enough pictures that everyone seems to believe she is a Yorkie. She is reg. APR, which I now understand means I could registered a hermit crab mix through. LOL. Worthless. I also paid a million for her, which is even more disgusting. But I guess if there wasn't fools out there like me, puppymill breeders like this would be stopped in their tracks. Would love to see a picture of her and welcome to YT.

You live and learn.........simple as that. Now, you can use your experience and share it with others so it doesn't happen again. If your fubaby is healthy and loveable............it's definitely worth every cent you paid for

| Maybe shes a silky terrier some people confuse the 2. My neighbor has a yorkie and then thought she got another but im sure it was a silky terrier it was bigger and had diferent hair etc. Silky terriers look alot like yorkies only i think they have longer noses, their hair is differnt, and they are supposed to get bigger. |
