| CKC to AKC Can anyone explain to me CKC registration? Can I buy a puppy that is CKC and register it with AKC? What is the AKC process? I'd appreciate any help. |

| I believe that you have to register the dog in the same club that the parents are registered in. that would also be where the litter is registered. |

| yes you can be registered in both. Layla was born in Ohio.. so she came AKC.. and i could have gotten her CKC registered but she had to be microchipped. i'm pretty sure it is easier to go from CKC to AKC>. not as much requirements... you can go to their webstie.. they have a whole section on registering your CKC as an AKC.. good luck |

| regs There is no problem if it is the Canadian KC...but if it is the Continental KC, there will be a problem..not with CKC, but with AKC...AKC will not accept Cont KC unless both parents were AKC...CKC has no rules regarding who is registered with what... |

| i think it depends on if you are selling pet puppies or show pups...i'm not sure why (but being from Canada) but it seems that AKC is more "prestigious" even though they both stand for the same thing. Layla is registered AKC even though she is just a pet.. and if there weren't so many hoops to jump through she would have been CKC too... i figured i payed the big bucks for her... i want the paper that says she is AKC i think that since you are in the US... and probably selling to people in the US>.. they would want a AKC registered pup.. but that is just my opinion... |

| I believe that if the parents are CKC, and NOT AKC, the puppy can't be registered with AKC.

| thats what I was told. If you have a female that is CKC amd the father is AKC you still can only register with CKC. AKC will not take it unless both parents are AKC. CKC is alot less stict. I bought a pup one time that was CKC and it turned out it was not pure breed yorkie.
