3rd Bath this week!!! Clearly Chewy is not happy about this!!!! The snow is melting here and there is black gross slush and puddles all over the place. At the same time i am trying to get Chewy used to going outside every day again since it is getting warmer. But when we get home her entire head, legs, stomach and sides are covered in black sand and dirt. It is not something i can just wipe off with a wet towel or a baby wipe. Does anyone else experience this? I know it cant be good to give her so many baths in one week so what else can we do? I want to stay consistent with going outisde at least once a day because she has NO IDEA that she should be doing her business out there. She runs home as soon as she sees our house and runs to her wee wee pad. Thanks Marina

| We have the same problem on the wet slushy days. I always tell Punkin she is a sidewalk mop Sometimes I will rinse her in the tub and not use soap so that I don't dry her skin out so much. If I have to I will use a very gentle soap (biogroom for puppies) - but I try not to do that more than once a week.

Hopefully the snow will all be gone soon. I know how frustrating it csn be to try to keep them clean.

i think it is fine.. it is just temporary.. as soon as the slush season is gone you won't need to bathe so often.. layla comes in JUST A MESS.. she will be getting her 3rd bath in a week tonight... (we are also bathing often to keep ontop of her dry skin... we just bought Cranberrie Fields Shampoo and we're trying to get it on her as much as possible to combat the problem) a suggestion might be to just let her air dry.. not blow dry each time... that is hard on their skin.

OH yeah! I take my boys for a walk, they walk through every puddle of slushy black mess that they come near!! I take them in the house by picking them up, walking it, right up the stairs, into the bathroom and dumping them in the tub... where I proceed to rinse them off with warm water! no soap, no blow dry. I let them air dry and crank the heat in the house for awhile! I don't think its bad that they are wet, I just don't know about a full bath 3x a week! Might be a little hard on their skin and YOUR time!

We have the same problems in Nebraska. Sophie is also still potty training and sometimes smells like pee. I try to only give her full blown baths once a week. The rest of the week we use a wet wash cloth to tidy up.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I dont really like to get her wet without using shampoo because then she smells like dog. LOL And i definately agree about letting her air dry. She runs around the house at 65mph to dry herself off.

Isn't it amazing how much muck can be held on those itty bitty little legs? I made the kids some leggings out of water repellent material and they get all that long leg hair tucked into them and off we go for our wet walk. It doesn't solve the problem completely, but it certain makes cleanup a bit easier since two out of my three kids are in full coat. Of course they wear a coat or shirt or what ever to keep the rest of the hair from dragging. And yes, sometimes they look a bit silly and the neighbors lol at them.
