| Riley finally plays! Well, it took almost a year and a half but he's finally playing like a 'normal' dog! He's actually holding toys in his mouth and shaking them from side to side like Jo does. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal to some but for Riley it's a huge accomplishment...it shows he's overcoming some of his fears, as strange as they may be! He still hides when Jo plays with the buggy whip but if I hold him he will at least stay in the same room. Maybe someday he'll even join in...we can always hope...bur for now it's nice to watch them play together. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | That's awesome. I love breakthroughs, and it sounds like that's exactly what's happened. Keep up the good work, Riley!

| Hooray for Riley!!! My little one, Kalani, is very very timid and last week for the first time he walked around the whole block on his leash and we were ready to throw a party - LOL!

| Maggie is a scaredy little thing too. But now she will run get a toy and she will shake it sometimes. She use to be scared of all but one or two toys. She is scared of paper rattling, or plastic rattling, but she isnt scared to bark at people and things like that. I actually got her to go fetch a toy yesterday about 5 times. she wont bring it right to me but she gets almost to me and lays it down. She is 9 months now. I'm hoping she gets better on playing but I'm happy with her cause she is a good dog.

| Thank you everyone! Yes, I am so happy we've had a breakthrough with Riley...I was beginning to think there was no hope! His fear of playing was one major reason we considered rehoming him but now it appears he's working his way through things. Now that the weather is getting nice we'll be out more so he can socialize a little bit. He'll be 2 in May...it took him long enough to come out of his shell but I'm glad he did! |
