| I woke up CRYING!!!! Around 2am, I woke up with Prince cuddled up close to me. I pet him for about 15 minutes before I noticed he wasn't responding. I started banding his knees but they would just pop right back up..STIFF! I put my hand over his face to feel for breath...but I felt NOTHING! I JUMPED UP and woke up my fiace, who started shaking him....he lifted him into his arms and yelled "PRINCE WAKE UP...NO....PRINCE GET UP!!!" still, he didn't move.. Finally, after about 8 minutes of shaking him and yelling, he looked up and kissed my fiance. Anfy (my fiance) then haded him back to me (I was frantic of course) and he kissed me all over. It took me about 3 hours to fall back asleep after that because I was so scared. Do any of you have yorkies that sleep so deep its LITERALLY like waking the dead? I've never seen him do this and it really freaked me out. I was crying like a crazy woman. He gave me the scare of my live.

| It was horrible. I was crying so hard. Im surprised I didn't wake my kids. His body was limp (except for his legs which were straight as a board). He was flopping all over the place when Andy picked him up.. I don't know what id do if I lost one of my babies. Now, I am a VERY deep sleeper myself, but lets be real. If someone were to swing me around, shake me hard, and yell, I think I would wake up pretty quick. I've never seen him do this and I dont wanna see him do it again.

| I may just do that. After he woke up he was fine, but I wasn't I was shaking. He's runing around like a mad man now (his usually hyper self).

| Sounds like an epileptic seizure. My male shep has it. You should call your vet and tell them what happened. Get a notebook and record every occurance. Most seizures occur while the animal sleeps so they do go unnoticed. |

| OH MY, I hope not. This has never happened before. Im up all hours of the night getting a glass of water, using the rest room, checking on the pups, and each time he jumps up and follows me. This time he was REALLY asleep. Im gonna call the vet and see what she says... oh how scary!!!!!

| I agree with Debr, I would check with the vet and keep records. My sisters dog, scruffy, has epilepsy, takes meds and it is fine, mostly scary, but there are precautions to take. I will check with my sister and see what she thinks.

| Zsa Zsa have been diagnosed to have Necrolepsy . It a problems of sleeping .She have the same symptoms as your little one . Every time she does it , I totally panick even if I know . This morning I was trying to have her wake up . You can look under necrolepsy , to see if it is what the pup went through . As the others told you , have him check by your vet . Epilepsy , its not the same symptoms . Last edited by Diego; 05-25-2005 at 06:43 AM. |

| 8 minutes of yelling and shaking and no response; that's a long time! Sorry to say this but it sounds like more than just a deep sleeper. I would get him checked out. I hope it's nothing. Good luck!

| Ok, I just called the vet. She was VERY helpful and took the time to explain things to me. She said to keep a journal of this. If it does happen again that it may be a seizure, but its possible he was just really, really tired. She did tell me though that she's never heard of a dog dying from seizures but never say never. Prince has an appointment on June 20th so they said when I bring him in they will give him a full exam. It's nothing to stress right now since there isn't a pattern yet. It's only once and it could be nothing. I am taking Angel in today though because she is still bleeding from birthing pupus and its been 20 days. They said they will examine her and give her a shot of oxytocin and probably some antibiotics as well. The bleeding should stop after a week. Oh, what a day this is turning out to be...

| That must be so stressful. I can't imagine how you feel. I am so overprotective of Coco. I don't know what I would do if that happened to me. I would probably have a seizure myself. But glad he's ok. Don't you love how they just wake and think, "What is going on, why everyone so frantic? Did I do something?"..haha.. |
