| I want a friend I have a male yorkie he is a year old I want to get him a friend. Should I get another male or female. Biggy is spoiled but my wife and I have to leave him alone at home during the day. When we go on vacation he goes to the puppy spa but he is not happy when he comes home and loses weight. He is happy when we come home in the evening but we think he is lonely during day. We thought if we got him a friend they would keep each other company but we didn't know if a male or female would be better. Any suggestion, Biggy is fixed if that matters. |

| I have a male and female and like that combination. I dont have any dominance problems with my two and they accepted each other right away. My next one I am going to get another female but the female I have is vvery laid back so I am sure she will have no problem acceppting another female. I say get a girl since you already have a boy

| I have a boy and a girl. I really like them together. I had a bad experience in the past with 2 females (llasa apsos) but they were brought together as adults, which may have been why I had a problem. A lot of people here have 2 males or 2 females together and they are great together. I think it just depends on the dog.

| As long as both males are neutered there should be no problem with having two males. But a male and a female work well together also. So I don't think it will matter one way or another. I'd go more for compatible personalities. If you have a dominant dog, get a submissive one. something I read the other day might help also. I read that a male will never hurt a female, it's the law of the pack. I'd also suggest taking your dog along when you go to pick one out and see how well they get along together. |
