| Houston....We have a climber :) Soooo our usual routine in the morning when i leave for work is to bring Sophia upstairs in our bedroom and Jake goes downstairs in his Xpen... OK! I did that this morning and went on my merry way...My boyfriend calls me and says...Fran, you forgot to put jake in his pen...I was like NO I DIDNT...He goes well I walked downstairs and there he was sitting in the middle of the living room...So of course I am now questioning my sanity DID I REALLY NOT PUT HIM IN THE PEN...So my bf gets ready to leave for work and puts Jake in the pen...Now I get to work and am a lil panicked! What if he climbed out of his crate...What if he gets into wires...etc...So I leave work, catch the 9:15 ferry back to Staten Island...As i apporoach my house door I am still convincing myself that I forgot to put him in and I am just stressed and making up things in my head I open the door and guess who is there to greet me!! JAKEEEEE I was like WHAT THE &(*)(!! Now of course im like Im not crazy this lil buger climbed out of his xpen and came into the living room to hang out!!! Now we are just going to puppyproof the kitchen and let him stay in there...Cause obviouslyyyy this lil one is a climber!! I am happy to say he DIDNT get into a lick of trouble...No furniture bitten, no wires shred...NOT A THING...He was just hangin out!!

| So glad he was a good boy and didn't eat anything he shouldn't have or bit into any wires that are plugged in. My Zada was also a climber and we took two baby gates and put on the top of the ex-pen. Worked perfectly. |

| I know the feeling of doubting yourself whether you put him in the pen or not. Snickers climbed over the baby gate when he was 12 weeks old. He put his paws in the grooves and then just flipped himself over onto the floor. I was so petrified that he'd hurt himself that I never used the baby gate again. I swear they think they're cats sometimes!

| Both mine are climbers. Lucy doesn't do it anymore because she has the run of the living room, but Rebel is a different story. He can climb ANYTHING.

| What a smarty little Jake is! If your planning on gating him in the kitchen may I suggest you buy two because if he gets out of the pen he will certainly jump one gate. Take it from someone who knows. ME Buddy was a jumper. He can jump higher than a cat I stacked one on top of the other or he would scale the single one never touching it! Carol & Buddy |

| I have a climber too! Bindi jumps out of his xpen - he's 6 mos old and has been doing this for over a month now. Wehave to keep our bedroom door closed so he doesn't have free reign of the house. I wouldn't mind it so much, but he jumps onto my bed and pees on it. We put a pee pad out so he can use that, but he'd rather use our comforter. This weekend I'm going to rig up something to cover the top of the xpen...it's large, so it'll take some thinking...anyone have any suggestions?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie did the same thing with the playpen. Ist time thought I lost my mimd even though I knew I put her in , 2nd time my dtr came home and there she was. My dtr put her back in and watched her squeeze thru a tiny hole she had scratched thru. So we bought a plastic crate and I hate to put her in so know I have been gating the back end of the house off and so far so good. but she is 14 months old.

| My baby climbs too He did the same thing with climbing out of the pen while I was at work. That night, I put him back in his pen and went around the corner and watched how he was getting out. He'd push his bed as close to the side as he could get; step on the outer edge of the bed; and climb the rest of the pen like it was a ladder. Once I realized he would do that, I made sure nothing was plugged into that he could get to and shut all of the bedroom doors. He was happy and had run of the kitchen, dining and living rooms.

| Welcome to the "climbers club"! Venus is a climber too! She'd climb her crate and go over the x-pen! Nothing I did stopped this. I got a baby gate that looked like bars, and even had to put plexiglas on the front of it to keep her in the kitchen. Then she started tearing up the lenolium on the kitchen floor. So back to the crate when I'm not home, which isn't often. |

| My Lucy is a climber too. We stacked two gates and she even climbed that! God forbid she would get a little leg stuck and just fall! I had visions of her just dangling there all day! Hubby finally bought some smooth pegboard like stuff but without the holes and attached it to the gate to keep her from climbing it. Good luck with your little Jake!
