| 9 mos. old and 10 pounds $600.00 Too much? Hi, Sorry, tried to cram alot in that title. To try to make it short, I've been looking for a dog for my granddaughter and daughter. I've found a 9 month old girl, AKC who is 10 pounds and her ears are only 1/2 to 3/4 up. Her owner says she's rehoming her because she plays rougher than her other dogs play and since the others are small, this girl is too big and a bit to rough. She said she paid $2000.00 for her but will take $600.00 because she wants her to have a good home. I've enclosed a couple of photos. Can some of you more experienced moms or dads give me some advice? Do you think she'll get any bigger? Any chance of her ears coming up now? Thanks so much.

| She could possibly get bigger as some puppies continue to grow past 12 months. She is very cute but is not of standard yorkie size or features so for $600 I think she is way too overpriced.

| I think thats a lot for a 9 month old. They say that they usually stop growing around 9 months but that is not always the case. Both of mine grew after they were 9 months. Abigail especially she is 9 pds now and she grew quite a bit. Summer on the other hand has only grown a little and she is a lot smaller than Abigail she is only 3.5 pds. I hope this helps.

| I think she's stunning. I love her! Her ears do not look shaved. Maybe if you shaved her ears, it would help them stand a bit more.

| I think that price is to high. I paid $600 for a male who is now 10 lbs but he was a puppy when I got him

| she is beautiful and probably just the right size for the kids. IF you can afford the 600. then get her. Different people have different opinions but I don't think that is too much if THAT is what YOU want. A smaller one will cost a lot more and she is a very pretty girl. Sounds like she has a lot of energy, too. Good luck |

| I think she is darling. You want her to be a little larger for a childs pet, and 10 pounds is still a small dog. Find out all you can about her temperment, and how house trained she is. So many teapot yorkies make great pets. As far as the price, there are differences in prices all over the country. If you think that is a fair price for your area, it probably is. A yorkie is more than just a small dog with great hair; they come in many sizes, with different hair types. the one thing that seems constant in the breed is their wonderful loving spirit, you never OWN a yorkie; you experience them. I love my yorkie; and he weighs 3 pounds, and I would love him if he weighed 30.

| This girl is in Arizona. I'm in Florida Thanks to all of you for your input. I really appreciate your comments. I don't know what to do. I don't know if this is a fair price or not. My daughter lives in Lake Havasu and this girl is 3 hours away from her in Phoenix so she'll be driving to go get her on Saturday if this goes through. I live in Florida so can only judge by photos, etc. Please continue to comment. Thanks to all. I'm forwarding all your responses to my daughter

| I was on two Yorkie rescues and fostered for years, and occassionaly I would get one of the larger ones and some with ears that don't stand erect, but it did not in any way make a difference in intelligence or outgoing personality. It's a matter of what you want your dog to look like, and if the size and ears are of no importance, then get her if you want. Ask the owner for two things. First ask for Vet. references so you can call and find out about her breeding practices and health of her dogs. Also that she has a bile acid test done on this dog and recent Vet. exam and copy and email you the results. Also that she's up to date on her shots. If all checks out ask her to lower the price. You can get wonderful little Yorkies thru rescue much cheaper, not to mention Petfinder's. Have you checked those? Don't try and get this dogs ears to stand by shaving them if you do decide to get her, she is too old now. The cartilage has already formed. If it was done before he was 4 or 5 months of age, the ears could have been shaved then taped to help them strengthen standing up. Is she spayed? If not, then there is another reason not to pay that much. |
