| I'm so worried, what should I do?? So I just got a new job that I started on Monday, and they told me we're going to Canada for 1 week for a spa day at the resort and a bunch of meetings. I've never left Coco for that long. I don't know what to do. I definitely will not board her, no way, she will be miserable. I know my boyfriend or my family can take her but people that don't have dogs aren't as aware of pottying signs, and all that kind of stuff. Plus when my b/f and I went away for 2 days for our anniversary, I had my friend come over to watch her. When I called and Coco heard our voices she starting crying like crazy, so we came home a few hours earlier than planned. So I want to leave her with someone who has a dog so she can be occupied for the week. What should I do??? PLEASE HELP!!! I'M TOTALLY LOSING SLEEP OVER THIS.

| Why don't you ask Sam if she can watch Coco? I'm sure Coco would love to play with Maximus for a whole week!

| I would except Sam has someone else take Maximus a few times a week for sleepovers since she's not at home as often anymore. I don't want to stress Coco out. Trust me I would love that, but I just don't want Coco to get bounced around from house to house.

| I am waiting now for my DIL to bring over her little Pekinese. She will stay with us for 4 days. As much as she misses my son and DIL when they are gone, she still has a great time here too. She enjoys playing with the other dogs and running free in the big back yard. I think she enjoys the attention from someone new too. She can't wait for me to settle down in my chair in the evening so she can snuggle beside me. The others are a little jealous but they like her too. I am telling you all this so you know not to feel too guilty. Dogs like new experiences and it will be a little vacation for her too. She will miss you tons but she will find ways to enjoy the time. So, go have a great time and buy her an extra Christmas present or two while you are there.

I am sure everything will be fine. Maybe you could get your BF to check in on Coco while she stays with your friend and if he thinks that Coco isn't having a good time over there or if her cat isn't being receptive, then he could take Coco or take her to a family member or something. Is there anyway at all that you could take Coco with you? I know lots of hotels these days allow small pets. | |

| Dont everyone scream at me for this!!....I was going to beach for a week, when Lillybelle was about 11mos old...I just didnt know what to do..I visited several Kennels...NO WAY..then someone here on YT ..had entered a thread about a kennel near me that she had taken her yorkie too and loved it! I visited, it was spotless, the owners and grown daughter were lovely, had several dogs of their own, had a daily schedule of dinning, nap time, play time, soft music time...but I just couldnt do it, I visited yet again, took LillyBelle, we let her go out and play, but still no, I couldnt, Visited a third time and finally reserved her spot. I felt terribly guilty. When I came to pick her up..she was happy as a lark, had been bathed, groomed..she really had a great time. I now take her there for grooming, and she stayed during Thanksgiving. We just happened to see the lady that owns the "LabbyLaneKennel" at petsmart yesterday-Lillybelle saw her before me and went "crazy" trying to drag me to her. When Pam the owner picked her up, Lillybelle totally cleaned her face with licking. Now I have a place that she can go...and Im happy that she LOVES it... I just had to force myself the first time. I hoping for you that there is a kennel like this near you....Try posting in the "regional" forum for your area and see what turns up-- |

| I'll bet your parents would do a good job taking care of her. You can certainly tell them how she behaves when she has to go to the bathroom. You'd have to give this information to anyone, wouldn't you? I think your little dog will do just fine - if she's with someone who's good to her and takes good care of her. She'll probably even have fun! **** My dogs will all go home with anyone -- and have a ball! They love sleepovers. And - of course - they're happy to get back home too. And - they are especially esctatic whenever anyone spends the night here at our house. They insist on sleeping with whatever company I have -- especially if they are children!!!! You should work at making your little dog less dependent on you. You would all benefit from this. Dogs are like little children. Some little children scream every minute their parents are gone -- other little children just seem to have fun wherever they are -- and enjoy going visiting or spending time at grandma's or other friends and relatives houses. Good luck! Carol Jean |
