new home for my yorkie ? I have a yorkie (almost 8 years old) and is the best with me and a few people (including my wife and parents). However, he is aggressive and is on prozac (small dose). My wife and i recently had a baby boy (now seven months old) and we are afraid to have the dog near the baby. Despite my ability over the past 7 months to keep the dog completely separate, my wife has told me repeatedly that there will come a time where the dog must go. I am trying to be proactive and find a great home for him close to my house where i can visit and pay for mostly everything he needs, including medical, food, etc. Basically, he just need s good place to live without children. Any thoughts ? I'm a newbie here....so i'll be chatting around here frequently !

| Try to find a home near you if that doesnt work you could put an ad on here and try to find him a home. If neither of those work surrender him to a yorkie rescue and they will find him a suitable home

Thanks for the reply....i wouldnt want to just put him anywhere...i'd like to find someone nearby who has an interest in having a yorkie....i wouldnt just put him in a shelter and hope someone takes him. I need to know where he is going to be. Any suggestions on people who live in the northern new jersey/ newyork area ?

Rescue Will the rescues guarantee they won't put him down if he has aggression issues? I've not had experience with rescue so have no idea.

I agree with Chachi. There are lot of members here in the NY/NJ area that I am sure he could find a fantastic home with. Try posting an ad for him in the Yorkies For Sale section and see who has interest.

What about your parents...can they take him? Have you checked into a trainer? Maybe they could help with the aggression issues. Is he neutered? Sometimes neutering helps 'mellow' a temperment. I can't imagine having to be seperated from my dog if I had him for 8 years.

Thanks for everyone's input....its a bit premature just yet to put an ad...as i have at least 6 months or so (hopefully more) with my little guy before i give him to someone (very upset as i write this). I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. If i place a note on the board, i dont want it to be right away though, and of course it will be a long integration process as i wont let anything bad happen to my little yorkie (louie)

Thanks RLC ! He has had aggressive behaviour all along...dont know why....i didnt sociallize him enough as a baby...he always saw people, but it was like 1 day, he just started not liking people or anyone. I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on trainers...nothing will work.
