| Stinky Yorkie (i think her Privates) My friend has a Yorkie she's about 4 months old she has been noticing that there is like a funny smell on her puppie she bathes her and she cleans her when she poops. Could it be her little privates smelling like that she said sometimes it smells like fish i told her she might want to wipe her privates through out the day maybe that will help has anyone encountered that problem.

| Ears maybe Check her ears, it could be that they arent getting real clean on the inside and sometimes will tend to have an odor. There is a good cleaner out there that is liquid that you can squirt in and then rub the ear really good and it will clean up the canal. Then you can use a q-tip to clean the area that you can see, just dont go down in the canal.

| The anus has glands on it and sometimes when yorkies scot their butts on the floor they are telling you they need to be expressed. You squeeze that area and a fishy smelling liquid comes out. If you dont do this when they need it they can become infected

| Ususally people just have the groomer or the vet express them

| Yes, I would agree. You should probably just check with your groomer because they probably have a "package" that includes the service of expressing the anus glands. Hope that helps

| Another thought would be a Urinary Tract infection, or even a uterine infection...both of which would smell "fishy" and both of which would require antibiotics, best to take the pup to the vet, if it is just the anal glands, the vet can show your friend how to express them...takes about 2 seconds during the bath, no biggie.

| If it smells like tuna fish it is the anal glands. Get your vet show you how to do it. My daughter does Heidi when she needs it and they will become infected if left alone too long. It is prevelant in dogs with docked tails. S/W

| I had never had a yorkie before Lucy, so I was very surprised when she had a strange odor that ended up being what we called eye goo. I started washing her eyes every day. As she got older the smell went away and now that she is about 13 months and I bath her once a week we never smell it. |

| I know Shylah's breath is really fishy smelling and it's because of all the teething she is doing. She is 6 months and has a mouth full! BAD BREATH!!

Same with Ruthie - her mouth and sometimes the hair around her face smells pretty bad sometimes and I know it's because she's teething.
