Purebred? This is a picture in an ad in my area that says 3 purebred yorkies for sale. But one of the pups is a blond color, could they be purebred? I'm thinking no, any opinions would be appriciated. Last edited by Breeze; 05-01-2005 at 08:18 PM. Reason: silly typo

| Socalyorkilvr, has one that is that color so it could be possible. Are they asking a lot of money? I don't think I would trust them. I think the one on the right looks kind of like a Morkie but I'm no expert. They are cute though.

It is possible they are purebred. Some breeders breed for different colors, but that is often frowned upon. The AKC only recognizes a few color combinations. I would be very curious about the background of these puppies.

I would question whether any of those puppies are pure bred. I know we are using "designer" names but there is no such thing as a MORKIE except in the marketing ads. A mixed breed is a mixed breed is a mixed breed. So, they either are pure bred OR expensive mutts. They still need love and care but the price for buying such puppies should reflect their breeding. If you look at the internet ads, you can find ads that are listed under Yorkie and then when you see one of the color like the one on the left, it will say there are also "designer" named mutts for sale. So many times, mixed breed litters will have puppies with different looks and the ones looking like Yorkies are sold as "purebred without papers" and the others in the litter are listed as mixed breeds. That happens in the Balto-Wash area all the time..

I was surprised to see the pic. She is asking $1000 for each pup and not charging more for the blond one nor does she mention or explain its coloring. $1000 is about average here for a purebred non registered pup. I really have to wonder if they are purebred. Hmmmm..

The puppy in the picture doesn't look like my Chai who is a parti-colored gold and white purebred yorkie. Her parents were both blonde/silver. Their pictures are in the Gallery. I would definitely call and inquire. They will usually tell you it is a mix or that the parents are purebred and simply have the recessive color gene that produces chocolates, blondes or parti-colored. You could always have the DNA test done if it was important to you to know for a fact. They are all really cute. Below are pcs of Chai and her parents.
