| Markings Hi! How can you tell if your puppy is starting to mark? Usually at what age do they do that? Because I'm discovering wet spot on the floor all of a sudden, and it's like transparent in color unlike their pee pee which is yellowish....Is that it? My Psalm is almost 4 months and I don't know if that's what they're calling "markings". And btw, when he does that on the carpet and I don't know that he's done it, will it eventually smell after it's dried up? Thanks!!! |

| My Timmy is 7 months old and he marks only when I take him to someone else house. He started to do this when he turned 6 months old. He doesn't mark at home...I don't know why? Anyway if he pees on your carpet spray it with vinegar and water and then soak it up with a paper towel or rag. This should prevent your carpet from smelling. When I take Timmy out I always put a belly band on him just in case he tries to mark someone elses house. |

| Probably since he is only 4 months old it is not marking yet. Chachi started it about 7 months old

| Hi Chachi! So does this mean that it's his pee? how come it's not yellowish? And btw, 1 time when he was 3 months, he's playing with a shirt, and I think he's humping it, I wasn't sure. But after a few days, he's playing with my husband's lags, and the next thing I know, he's humping it! Is that possible???!!! |

| I think it is pee. I dont know why it is clear. When Chachi marks it is yellow like pee. If you dont want him to hump legs get him a stuffed animal his size that he can hump. Thats what my breeder told me to do and Chachi always humps his stuffed bear only. The humping has greatly decreased since he was neutered

| Marking is pee - they just call it marking because they just do a little at a time, to leave their scent, not out of a need to urinate. Yes, male behavior can start at any age. Urine color (concentration) is a indicator of health. Excessive clear urine or excessive dark color urine can indicate kidney problems, dehydration or other problems. If it looks abnormal you might want to have a urine test done just to be safe. |

| Titan will mark anything that is new in our house. So when we have guests, we make sure they put there shoes where the dog can't clam them. When dogs mark, it's with pee. Not sure about the color. Maybe he had more water to drink that day and it was lighter than usual. Next time smell it. If it smells like pee it's pee. and pee smells when it's wet and (I think) more when it's dry. My boy doesn't hump anything, except Roxi when she's in heat and that's only when she's not humping him. If you get him a humping toy take pic's I'd like to see that, ha ,ha. The best way to cure him of these naughty habits are to get him fixed as soon as he's old enough.
