| I don't have any advice. I just wanted to say that I'm glad to hear that her first heat was at 11 months. Ollie just turned 9 months and I was getting concerned because she hasn't gone into heat yet. Are you planning to breed on the first heat? I understood that you should wait till the second. but I really don't know anything about it since this will my first experience with breeding. |

| The are usually in heat for 21 days, 3 weeks. Of course, it varies with each dog. First week they will bleed, second week bleeding will decrease and they will start flagging. At this point they are ready to be bred and will accept males. The third week they are going out of heat and will not accept a male and will growl and snap at them. The second week is the week you breed them, the first and third week you can't breed them and they won't accept the male anyway during that time.

| So many questions Well, this will be my first time to post. so, Hi everyone! I have been wondering about sooo many things. I have a 4 1/2 month boy and we are thinking about getting a girl. Any advice? We are hoping to breed them, maybe even show them. We are overwhelmed with many emotions. We just want the best for our babies. |

| No, I would never breed any dog the first heat. They are still babies themselves. Breeders usually wait until the 2nd or when they become champions, if you show.

| omg, i have to do this for 3 weeks. See this is why ive always had male dogs. But my daughter, . My jack russell is going nuts. I feel bad about keeping nina in her xpen so much but he would rip the panties right off. She wont melt getting a hair less atention anyway. Hes a pretty big russell, but im not taking any chances, i dont believe in mixing purebreds, but thats just my own opinion. theres too many dogs in the world as there is.

| First time girl owner..What does "flagging" mean? My baby is 5 months old..I don't think I am going to breed her..I think she is too small in size for that. I think we are going to spay her this month!
