| Really Concerned about Bella Help Please! Hi all, I posted a couple differant things on here about what Bella has gone through.....When I first got her they were concerned she may have a liver shunt....did tests....said she was fine but he didnt want to put her through any more tests just yet and to wait until she was like 2 to check it out. Then she gets into everything and ate 2 advils.....stayed at vet all day and he gave her meds that should take care of that....then she ate a pack of orbit gum, but seemed fine.....now the past few days she has been vomiting....mostly liquid, but once 2 days ago was solids and this morning I woke to find 2 piles of chunky vomit.....She acts fine...totally wild and crazy like always and she ate and drank good again.....But, for the heck of it I just looked at her gums and the part right above her teeth is like "marroon" really really dark....way above that is pinkish. I looked at Louie's to compare and his are just a really healthy pink right above the teeth and all the way up. What does this mean???? Does anyone know??? Im going to google it now to see what I can find out but if anyone knows anything about this I would really appreciate your responses.....I am taking her to the vet tomorow anyways jus to get checked out. Thanks all.

| Bless your heart! If it was hypoglycemia, they are supposed to be a grayish color. I only know that what your describing sounds like inflamed gums, but I'd look all around her mouth on the gum area to be sure. Usually, inflamed gums become that way when there is a huge plaque build-up. She's much too young for that. I don't know if it could be a sign of fever or not. You might research that.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby ...she's a little thief with stuff she shouldn't have isn't she ? I don't know anything about gums - but MY Emergency Vets here in Houston answer the phone all night - no charge and I can send you their number if you want to talk to someone - I'd want to know too if they're that dark - and I hope she's going to be ok....The vomiting can be so many things - but the gums changing color would scare me too.... my girls have pretty pink gums - I think I'd notice right away too if they changed color. |

| I'm sorry, I don't know but I think it is a good thing that you are taking her to the vet. I hope she stops vomiting, that is really scarey!

| Lizzie just went through a puking episode this last week....she puked twice on last Saturday but was fine after that until Monday when she started puking again...about 6 times in two hours...I got her into the vet and they did some x-rays and blood test but everything came back normal. The bill came to over $300.00 and when we got home she was fine. No more puking and has been fine every since. So hopefully it was something she ate or got into. Sending prayers your way that Bella will be fine also and all that it is is a upset tummy. |

| Poor Bella has been through so much lately I hope she's doing better today. One of the information sheets I got with my pup stated that they are to absolutely stay away from 'sugar free' products as they can bring on hypoglycemia. I was quite surprised by this when I read it as it's something I'd never heard of before. I don't know if this info helps, but thought I'd pass it along, anyway. I hope she gets along well at the vet and that she's feeling better. hugs Val |

| just got back from vet Hi all...I would first like to thank you all for your prayers and support. I took Bella to the vet this morning and he said her gums are fine....that some dogs just have darker ones and he feels this is not a problem. He listened to her belly and said that he heard a lot of bubbling and that she was pretty crampy. He gave her some medicine while we were there and gave me some other kind to take at home....it is packets of granuals that she gets once a day for 5 days with food. (Forti Flora). He thinks she may just have an upset tummy and that this may clear it up, but if she continues to vomit then to bring her back in and he may have to do the exploratory thing with the scope that looks all around in there. I just pray that this medicine will take care of it. Thanks again all and I will let you know how she is doing in a day or so.
