| how long till they like each other? Got a new puppy today. She is 11 weeks old. Snickers is 10 months. He usally loves other dogs. Begs to play with them. So we got him a sister. Well he's ignoring her! He doesn't play but she wants to. Its only been a few hours. If she plays with him, he growls! Just curious.... |

| Congrats on the new baby girl. Snickers has gotten used to being the only one and now there is another dog in the house and he doesnt know what to think. I think he will come around by two weeks. Just give it some time. Chachi didnt play with Jewels right away when we brought her home. Another thing My dogs growl at each other when they are playing. Snickers will come around and he will be happy to have the companionship.

| wow, i'm happy another person got another yorkie. lots of that going around, it must be catching from yt. Congratulations. I bet within a week or so they will be best friends. It doesnt take that long as long as you make sure you dont take too much attn from the older one and give too much to the little one at least for a while. But they will both probably soon be jealous of you holding the other. Mine is. they dont hurt each other they see me pick up one and here comes the other. So sometimes i just pick them both up for a while and then their usually happy to get down and run off to play together. goodluck

| Yep mine do that too. Theres always a little bit of sibling rivalry. Just make sure if you give attention you give it to Snickers first. Snickers gets the first treat and so on and they will be fine.

| By now they're probably buddies, but a woman on another group told us how her two dogs didn't accept the puppy until after she washed they all in the same product. Your puppy smells like it belongs in another pack. It's worth a try and certainly won't hurt. |

| I am starting to have the urge for another baby in the house. And not human! I was thinking about waiting until Xmas. But with so many up here getting new babies, I might not be able to wait. Have fun with your new baby! I am so jealous....

| I had the same problem with my 9mon. old Chipin (Nigil)exepting summer.Nigil always liked other dogs but he knew this one was different. He worried me cause he actually lundged at her to bite.Fur babies get jealious just like human children.I gave him extra speacial attention with out the baby around and monitored them while together. Its been a week and half and he loves her, he lets her jump all over him.I still monitor them just to be safe. They are real funny to watch.

| Since the older one is still a puppy too, I bet they are already buddies. It doesn't take long. But like someone else suggested, it might not hurt to give the puppy a bath. |

| well he's still growling Quote:
He almost bit her head off when she tried taking a raw hide chew stick. It was a really bad night because she's so different from him. Snickers and sweet marie are from the same parents different litter, but nothing alike. When we took snickers home-- he didnt cry all night, stayed quietly in his crate! She cried for an hour before she fell asleep and then woke at 5am! We picked our this new puppy because she seemed more calm. Guess we were wrong! Since snickers is a more dominant dog it would work. But she's a scardy cat! to be by herself! | |

| An hour of crying isnt too bad. i have heard of other new puppies that cried all night. When Jewels was little she would cry when you put her in the xpen. I put one xen in the bedroom and one downstairs. At bedtime i would put her in the one in the bedroom and she would cry untill she saw me lay down to go to sleep. you might put the crate or xpen that you are keeping her in in your bedroom where she can see you

My furkids Donating Member | I got Lillie when she was 8 weeks old. She is now 12 wks. I also have an adult(2 1/2 yrs old, both yorkies) I was really concerned about them getting along as well especially Sadie being the only one for over 2 yrs and being totaly spoiled. Much to my surprise they got along pretty good...the first day was more sniffing.....and growling, Lillie didn't play much the first day, leaving Mom and siblings, new house, new people. But, the next day!!! It was like someone had wound her up! Everyday Sadie got a little better with her new fursister. They drink out of the same bowl (even though they have their own) Sadie never growls at Lillie around food or treats. They play all the time now (this took approx a week). Sadie still won't let Lillie sleep next to her though and it's difficult for me to get a pic of them together. Sometimes I have to seperate them...Sadie will get a little ruff sometimes...Give it time, eventually they will be best buds!
