| Puppy Puddles and Hardwood Floors I am thinking about putting in Hardwood Floor but am told there not dog friendly. Minnie does have accidents once in a while. I'm told that if I don't clean it up right away it will damage the floor. Can anyone with hardwood floor tell me there experence with them and puppy puddles??? Carol Minnie |

| We've got hardwood floors in all but one room. Frankly, if they're going to pee I'd rather they pee there than on the carpet! As long as you clean it up quickly, you're okay!

| It mostly depends on whether it's real hardwood or laminate. You have to remember that dog urine is an oily substance. If it's real hardwood and has a good polyurethane coating, getting it up in a timely manner is best. The laminate is less likely to soak it up. And yes, I agree, I'd rather they have an accident on the wood than on the carpet. Just make sure you don't use a harsh chemical to clean it up. Windex has always been my favorite because it cuts the oil in the urine, the ammonia content removes the scent, and it doesn't leave a filmy residue to attract dirt. |

| I have hardwood floors as well and much prefer them to carpet. I'm sure the presents Little Bit leaves aren't good for them but so far everything has cleaned right up. At least I feel like they are clean and I never felt that way with carpet even without puppy accidents. Good luck to you. |

| I'm just worried about going out for the day and her making a puddle that is when it happens the most. But it doesn't happen often. And yes I would prefer wood to clean then carpet to. Carol Minnie |

Carol, I have Hardwood floors and Ceramic tile. My hardwood floors are sealed with a varnish. And even if an accident sat there when Balli was a puppy, it never hurt them. So I do think it depends on how they are sealed....

| I have hardwood too. I agree with the others. As long as it's sealed well, I've never had a problem with damage.

| Thank you for all the reply it has helped alot. I'm getting so tried of cleaning up with carpet cleaner every few month because of kids messes and kid and hubby dragging everything in I think a hardwood floor would be easier to care for. Carol Minnie |

| I don't think you will ever regret getting rid of the carpet. We put in hardwood floors a few years ago, and have never had any problems, even when we don't find the accident for a few hours - it just cleans right up - I think everyone is correct in that it has to do with the finish.

| I have hardwood in the entry, kitchen and breakfast area and Zoie rarely pees on it. It does clean up easy, but if it was left all day and got down in the cracks between the wood, I could see it causing problems and stinking even. I don't give her run of it while I'm out though, so I don't worry about that. I love my wood floors!! They are beautiful and get lots of compliments. |

| My hardwood floors are sealed too. Don't know with what since I bought the house new. But, I do have to agree with others about her peeing on them than on the carpet. Sometimes I do miss a puddle, and the pee crystalizes...it doesn't even soak in. Which is great!

| Have you considered dog pantie diapers for her? We got rid of our carpet, laid laminate, and also put Lucinda in dog diapers when she is running around the house. She looks so cute in all the different patterns that we bought off the net plus we don't worry about an pee accidents. You won't regret getting rid of the carpet and with her in a dog diaper you will have no worries at all! |
