| Help Bella Ate.... Last night around 10:30 Bella vomited twice. It had little pink chunks in it and was sort of "gummy" . Well this morning my husband found an empty pack of orbit gum in her cage. Bella ate a whole pack of orbit gum. She must have snitched it out of my sisters pocketbook yesterday. She is acting just fine, running around and playing like her usual self. She had a normal poop. Should I be worried?

| If she ingested it last night and has been acting normally, I think you may be in the clear (a quick call to your emergency vet probably wouldn't hurt just to be on the safe side). I found this article on an ingredient found in gum that could potentially be harmful to your dog, but it also says that any symptoms usually appear within half an hour of injesting. Also - I'm not sure if Orbit gum contains Zylitol. http://unconditionallove.zaadz.com/blog/tags/gum She probably threw up the gum because she couldn't digest it - and if she ate a whole pack, well too much of anything can make anyone feel sick right? Take a peak at the article - I hope this helps some....

| http://www.wrigley.com/wrigley/products/brand.htm It looks like Orbit does contain Zylitol... but I think it's promising that she threw up the gum and she's acting okay right now. Still, I would give your er vet a quick call and see what they say - I imagine they'll tell you just to watch her, but at least you'll have a little peace of mind. Hope your baby is ok! P.S. If it was Orbit White, it does NOT contain Zylitol.

| I had a gum scare the other day too. They are so sneaky aren't they? YEa, I think you should make a call just to be safe but she seems fine. Good luck!

| People need to learn to put handbags out of reach of little dogs. They'll get in them every time. Some even get medication out of them. Orbit does have xylitol in it. A poison! http://www.wrigley.com/wrigley/products/brand.htm Xylitol: Candy, gum and other products containing large amounts of the sweetener xylitol can cause a rapid drop in blood sugar (particularly in dogs), resulting in depression, loss of coordination and seizures.

| Hi all, Thank you all so much for your replies. Bella is doing really good (Thank GOD!) I went to the site and read that athere was that stuff in the gum but it was one of the last few ingrediants so maybe that means there is NOT that much in it. I hope so anyways. Vet said just to watch her and if she is doing ok now and all day then there should not be a problem. Im gonna take her in tomorow anyways though because of her persistant "honking", she is doing that more and more and it is really scaring me. I'll let you all know what they said. Thanks again all. Love and kisses from the sneaky little Bella.
