| Tootsie's coat and size My little tootsie is almost 12 weeks old and when we took her to the vet two-weeks ago she was 1.14 lbs. That seems very small and when I read the forums it seems like everyone else says that their puppies are heavier. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else had a puppy Tootsie's size. Also, I was wondering if anyone knew when their adult hair grows in and their puppy hair fades out.... Tootsie hair is seemingly not growing Thanks!

| Welcome to YT! My Simon was that size at 12 weeks and he's a good 7 pounds now at 2 1/2. Her hair will start growing before you know it and then you'll be so surprised at how fast it grows |

| Welcome to YT! My baby is 1.7lbs at 14 weeks - the breeder estimates that her weight will be less than 4lbs. It's difficult to guess though - some just have growth spurts later than others. You could end up with a puppy in the 4 to 5lb range. I think to get an estimate of size, you triple their weight at 12 weeks and add a pound (?) - this formula doesn't work for everyone though. Oscar has only gained a pound and a half in the last 6 months. Their hair grows at a rate of about a half an inch a month - like their size growth rate, their hair will grow at different rates as well. Your puppy will have a nice full coat before you know it!

| When we got Piper at 13 weeks she weighed 1.3 lbs. At 5 months she weighs a whopping 5 lbs, but she doesn't look it. Her body is so long. She is a morkie, but her parents weren't over 5 lbs. |

| omg Piper is adorable! Was her mom Maltese then? I have a question about a yorkie's hair growth. Autumn is almost 3 and her hair has never reached floor length and is still pretty thin. Both of her parents had long thick hair. The hair around her face grows well and is a beautiful red. So I guess I am just wondering do all yorkies get the super long hair or no?

Which do I prefer? At this point, the long silky, it feels so nice, a little more work but the cotton kind of takes care of itself somewhat eventhough it seems it needs washing much more often. | |
