| I appreciate any response I have a 9 month old yorkie mix. heres the stroy: Rocco is a little bigger than normal yorkies because he is a mix and i know he can hold in whatever has to come out. When he sleeps in the crate he goes in there the next morning. When he sleeps with me in the bed he holds it until noon the next morning. Also we have bells hanging by the door and everytimje we take him out we let him ring them and now he does with us by him. He wont use them by himself. He sometimes runs to his crate and poops in there. We bought a divider for the crate and minimized the space. If anyone has a quick, easy training method PLEASE LET ME KNOW I APPRECIATE ANYTHING. anything that has worked for you guys and didnt take to long. Rocco knows obedience commands which i trainded him myself and listens everytime. He just wont get potty trainded. ive tried everything. Also i can only get him to go pee-pee outside. My previous dog would do poop and pee on command but rocco doesnt seem to understand. I havnt given up yet! But need the help and answers. Thanks everybody! |

| If anyone has a quick easy training method? Sorry, I'm honestly not making fun. They really are hard little buggers to train. My Gracie wasn't fully trained until a year and at 2 1/2 shes still not 100% trustworthy. That doesn't mean that will be the case for you but some of them do take a while. Sounds like you're doing the right stuff and at least he's peeing outside. Good luck and trust me, I feel your pain!

| When I first got Ruby and pearl they kept pooping in the crate no matter WHAT. I found by taking the darn crate and actually scrubbing it in the TUB and then bleaching and using Vinegar then rinsing... They finally STOPPED after about $ days. JUST CLEANING with a rag and cleaner DID NOT do it... I had to do the whole scrub down each time to get rid of ANY scent whatsoever that may be lingering. VERY HARD WORK when you do it a bunch of times a day but WORTH IT !

| If he is going into the crate to poop, then evidently he thinks that is the place to poop. He just isn't getting the message. Buy a smaller crate, one that fit him perfectly with no room to spare. If the crate is big enough for him to move around it will stimulate the urge to poop. Or leave the door off the crate and put a pee pad next to it, and confine him to a small area like a bathroom or laundry room. When what you are trying dioesn't work, then try somethine else cause evidently he is not getting it. It's all about communication, you have to figure out what he understands. Why is he allowed to sleep with you sometimes and other times not? If anyone had a quick easy training method, they would be a billionaire. You could also try regulating when he eats, that might make him more regular when he poops. Good luck Last edited by JeanieK; 08-01-2006 at 05:29 AM. |

| It seems to me that they take in what you are trying to teach them but want to decide for themselves WHEN they are going to start actually doing it. I have a gorgeous little girl who occassionally will actually poop in her crate (after being outside and all), chew it up into smaller pieces, and put those pieces in her bedding before LAYING ON IT! Oh, that can be quite frustrating, especially on bath day! My other female, Tiah, is perfect and for the life of me, I can't remember how she got that way! I wish you much luck. Just be patient. |

I do not believe that dogs are vindictive, or that they plan things. If one does it right and the next one does not get it, it is because they are different dogs with different levels of understanding. Just like kid, what works for one dfoes not always work for another one. You evidently did not manage to communicate to the other one just what it is that you want. It's just all a lack of communiction. I think frequently what happens with a second dog, is the same thing that happens with a second kid. we do not spend as much time on the training as we did with the first one, because we have two now, and the first one gets in the way of training the second one.

| Withe letting him sleep in my bed or not we tried it a couple times to see what might happen and he held it through the night and morning until i took him out. I also went to a petsmart potty training class and the trainer told me to put him in thecrate if he did not go outside until 15 minutes later to take him out again. The only thing is he goes in there when i put him in. Also someone said to buy a smaller crate for him, wouldnt a divider work just the same if he has little room? Becasue this is the second crate i purchased? I am thankfull for all the responses! |

I didn't think she was being vindictive or planned it....just did it. However, you are right, she didn't get as much individual attention as Tiah. You can tell that some just don' care though....Mercedes is one of them. Still, I love her to pieces .
