| I'm Sooooooo Mad!!!! Sorry guys...have to vent. I've got ants in my apartment. They're in the bathrkoom and in the kitchen. More so in the bathroom. That's where I normally keep Sadie. So I've been keeping her in the kitchen because there's only been a few in there & she stays on the other side of the room anyway so it's ok. Pest control comes by at my apartment complex on Wednesdays. Last Wed, I put Sadie in her crate so that they could spray. Anyway, it didn't do any good, so I requested that they come again this week. Well, when I got home yesterday, they had come yesterday!!!! I wasn't expecting them because they NEVER come on any day other than Wednesday. Well, I had requested that they put down the gel instead of spraying for ants because this is what had to be done last year to get rid of them (another long story). So they did it all over the bathroom. That's fine because Sadie was in the kitchen. I was walking out of the kitchen last night and stepped on some that was in the kitchen floor!!! Then I found some of the gel in the kitchen sink! I am sooooooooooo mad that they went in there with that crap with my baby in there. The part that was on the floor was right where she stands when she hears me come in the door, so she could have stepped on some. I immediately washed her feet just in case. She was acting ok, so I don't think she got into any of it, but I'm still so mad that they even exposed her to it. Also, I cleaned my carpets this weekend and they got some of that gel on the carpet too! It's sticky and gross. Not to mention the fact that I have an alarm system that they have to deactivate when they go in. The did not reactivate it when they left. And they left a couple of lights on. One thing my dad always preached to us as kids was when you leave a room, turn the light off. It stuck with me & I NEVER leave lights on unneccessarily. Especially when I'm not there. It really does save money. Now, it's been so hot here, everyone's electric bills are way high anyway, so this is not helping. It might sound crazy, but that's how I am. I expect my apartment to be as I left it in the morning. I can't tell you what went through my mind when I opened my door when I got home & found that my alarm wasn't on & there were some lights on. I'm going by there this afternoon to talk to the manager. What makes me the maddest is that they came on a different day without notifying me so that I could do something different with Sadie and then they exposed her to that. Sorry for the long post...had to get it off my chest.

| I'd be angry with them, too. Perhaps a talk with the manager will end that. I can't even imagine.

| That is horrible!! We had an ant problem and what worked extremely well was this stuff called taro. You have to be careful around pets and children though. You put the stuff down where you notice them the most and then you will see tons of ants swarm on it. They take it back to the nest and it poisons them there. You wont see anymore for a long time. I wuold definitely complain to someone about what happened though that was extremely careless on thier part. |

Yes, I agree it was careless. And you can bet I'm complaining. That's my baby they're messing with. They're just lucky that she didn't get into it.......Because if she did, there would be plenty of H**L to pay. She's my only "child", and with her, my Mom Instinct takes over. In no way is she "just a dog".

| I completely understand your frustration. You have to be careful with those pest control chemicals. I know someone who's yorkie died because the maintenance people at her apartment came in when they weren't supposed to and sprayed everywhere, including in her dog's food bowl I'm afraid of someting like that happening so I don't allow anyone to spray my townhouse. I also have an ant problem in the spring and summer every year so I buy ant traps (those disks) and put them in all rooms in areas where Max and Abbie can't get them. It's not perfect but it seems to get rid of most of them. I hope Sadie is ok

She had not finished her breakfast yesterday when I got home so I threw the rest of the food away and washed her food and water bowls out last night and mopped the floors. I'm not taking any chances. I didn't sleep at all last night because I kept waking up to check on her. I really don't think that she got into any of it, though. I think that by now if she had she'd be acting funny or throwing up or something.

| Wow, I would be so furious also! Surely they wouldn't use something harmful if they knew Sadie was in there...but then you never know. Some people are just dumb and insensitive about pets. It's also so wrong that they put you at risk by leaving your security alarm off. Maybe you should tell the manager you want no one in your apartment when you're out. I sure hope Sadie is okay. Please keep us posted.

Thanks. It's not like I live in a bad neighborhood or anything, but still....I've always felt more comfortable using my alarm because of the fact that I'm a single female & also my size and medical condition. I would hope they wouldn't use anything to harm her, but last year when I had ants, I took Sadie in to the office w/me when I was telling them that they needed to do something (this was after a month). The girl in the office said, "Try putting bleach on the floor". Um....HELLOOOOOOO..."I have a dog" (this is where I pointed to Sadie), "I can't put bleach on the floor". She said, "Oh...you do have a dog, don't you." I was holding Sadie during this entire conversation. Some people just don't think.......

| Turns out everything is ok. She apologized for everything (and sounded sincere, not fake). And she did say that she would talk to them. She also said that by law they cannot use any kind of pesticide that will harm either humans or pets. I know that this does not mean that you can't get sick from it if you ate it or something, but still. Anyway...all that matters is that Sadie is ok. I told her that if it was just the alarm & lights I never would have said anything, but that since it was the dog, I felt I had to. I told her that I do not want them ever going in the same room as her. She said that was fine. Anyway, I feel better about it all now. It wasn't our regular pest control guy. The regular guy had a death in the family & so someone else was taking his place & that's why they had to change the day.I've lived here for 2 1/2 years & this is the first problem I've had with them (well, except for when I had ants last year & they were spraying w/the wrong kind of spray).

| I'm glad things seem to be working out. I know I would have reacted just as you did. It scares you!
